<p>Soraya Umewaka is a Japanese-Lebanese documentary filmmaker who produces cross-cultural portraits that highlight the resilience and dignity of the human spirit. Born in Tokyo and educated at Princeton University, Soraya is also a Noh actress who has performed at the National Noh Theatre (traditional Japanese theater) since she was 3 years old. She believes that a lifetime of Noh training has attuned her observations of the nuances, symbolism and subtleties of expression found in the arts, allowing her to tell powerful stories through documentary film. . . .
