So right now I’m in a predicament.
Short version: Is a 2200-2250 SAT Score with 730 USH, 680 Math 1, 650 Math 2 > 2000-2050 SAT Score with 800 USH, 750 World History, 750+ Math 2?

Long version:
I took my first SAT in March and got a score of (640/680/650)
In October I took SAT subject tests (USH: 730, Math 1: 680, Math 2: 650)
I studied for the USH test in 4 days (Read through Essential Content Book) I also am an IB diploma candidate so I didn’t have the benefit of APUSH. I didn’t study for Math subject tests at all. I admit I am stupid. I regret it so much now. I have no idea why i procrastinated so much on SAT subject tests… Why did I wait so long to take it and why did I not study beforehand? I definitely should’ve studied for my SAT subject test instead of SAT I’s during the summer.

I registered for the SAT in November just to see if I could get an increase in a score category that may help when I super-score my SAT.

I feel like it would’ve been more beneficial if I took my SAT in October (Since the SAT I took today I’m not planning on being my final one), Subject tests in November instead (I’m positive I would’ve gotten a 800 on USH and a more acceptable math score) and the SAT again in December. Unfortunately I did not plan it this well and am now stuck with some low SAT Subject test scores.

If I prepare super hard for this December SAT and say get a score in the range of 2200-2250 (I believe I have the potential/motivation to do so). Is having this SAT score and my current SAT subject tests better than say having around a 2000-2050 superscore SAT (which I believe I will get from my March + November Scores) and an 800 in USH, a high Math II score, and perhaps a high World History score?

I’ve been looking all over the internet on the importance of SAT II subject tests for UVA and I know subject tests can only help you, but I’m getting mixed results. Some people say that it is strongly recommended for a reason and you are at a disadvantage without having good scores. Others say it isn’t a big deal and GPA/SAT I is more important.
I am so stressed out right now…

Another option: Take the Dec 8 ACT and you can still take the Dec SAT subject tests! Many people do much better on the ACT than the SAT. You can take a few practice tests between now and the registration deadline of November 9 to see if that option looks like it would benefit you. You only need about a 31 composite ACT score to better your current SAT scores. The ACT is much more about time management and less about memorizing vocab! You could then use your ACT and your improved SAT subject tests and have the best of both.

Are you in state or OOS?

It is important to submit SAT2 subject tests. They can only help you. IMO the scores on SAT1 are more important then SAT2, and your SAT2 score are not bad at all. I think you are over thinking this.

So, just to understand, you had a 1970 from your March SAT and are expecting a superscore of 2000-2050 with the November SAT yesterday? That’s a pretty modest increase. If you put any effort into preparation I would anticipate more then a 30-80pt bump. I guess the question would be, how well did you prepare for the Nov SAT? If you feel you didn’t put much effort in and can get a much better score then I’d use that test date to take the SAT1 again. If you felt well prepared I’d use the December date to take a subject test. The Math 2 has a greater curve, however the biggest problem people have is simply finishing.

I am instate (yay!) and Asian male (bad)
I really only took about 4 practice tests in the month before the November SAT and didn’t study for individual sections. Basically I didn’t study effectively and merely refreshed my old memory about the SAT. The main reason was this past week was the last week before 1st quarter ended, so it was quite busy. I was being a little pessimistic about 2000-2050 but I think realistically the max I could have gotten was a 2100. I doubt that though, I feel like my reading score didn’t change much. Math probably went up 30-40 points, Writing possibly 0-100 depending on my essay score. MC went really well (only missed 2-3 I believe) but my essay was… ugh. I’d be happy if I got an 8.

My study plan includes DH for Vocab, Gruber’s SAT Math Workbook, and Baron’s 2400 for Writing. All of which come in Monday and I still have the Blue Book to do practice tests from. I’ve realized I’ve been doing the reading section all wrong. I’ve been taking too long reading the passages because I read every detail when really I need to get the general idea and use the questions to look at specifics.

I’ll also consider the ACT. I’ve never taken a practice test before but I’ve heard although the questions are easier you run out of time.

Most likely I’ll retake the SAT in December and just tough it out with my subject test scores.

That sounds like a solid plan kb. I would commit to it and not second guess yourself. This is a stressful time, the last thing you need is to be second-guessing every decision. Make the best decision you can and move forward with your best efforts. That’s all you can do. Further anxiety about the decision is going to take energy energy from what you really need to be doing, which is focusing on current grades, prep for the December SAT, having fun with friends, or resting those brain cells (yes, also important). Any time spent going back to stressing over this is robbed from the previous things.

Best of luck to you! :)
