IMSA Applicant Class of 2018

Would you guys consider straight B’s/A’s in math, science, and ela good because I go to Scullen Middle School in Naperville, illinois. I am applying in 8th grade as you know.

Also, for you waitlisters, https://www.imsa.edu/sites/default/files/upload/admissions_policy_ja_.pdf Go to last paragraph of page 4

Also, I was reading this, and found out that you can indeed appeal your denial! If you truly believe you should be in, than appeal! Its worth doing nothing!

@lsutiger25 Getting a non 4.0 GPA in general is not too bad as long as you have everything else packed, but comparing a non perfect gpa in applying as a 9th grader to an 8th grader, yes it puts you at a further disadvantage as it’s already difficult to get in as an 8th grader.

@AviSaxena33 So I have a 3.6 GPA right, but what if everything else on my application is beautiful. Will the 3.6 bring me down :frowning:

Do people actually appeal the admission’s decision, and get in?

@lsutiger25 Especially since you’re an 8th grader and it’s already extremely difficult to get in as an 8th grader, yes it will unfortunately.

But they said that GPA isn’t as dependent as other factors in your application. What if you get a perfect SAT score and perfect RCE score?

That’s not the point … Regardless of how perfect somebody’s application is ,you must understand that every 8th grader who applies and gets in’s, application will be “better” than the majority of 9th graders that get im therefore it is extremely difficult to get it as an 8th grader compared to 9th grade which is why a small blemish like that in your application there regardless of how much it’s regarded hurts.

So if I rather applied as a 9th grader than a 8th grader than that 3.6 gpa isn’t that big @AviSaxena33

Yes

@AviSaxena33 Is it even worth applying then, if I know I will not make it?

Of Course …

@AviSaxena33 which orientation are you going too?
@Isutiger25 look you already have a 3.6 GPA and u can’t do anything about it. Just make sure to have a decent SAT score (700 range) and do what you love. Honestly that’s the best thing to do.

@priyaluvsbooks Apparently the one this saturday

woah i got in IMSA from the waitlist. She said I was one of the first she contacted YAYYYYYYYYYYY

@rialbhu Same here. Congrats!

@priyaluvsbooks I got in, can I be added to the KIK chat?

same @priyaluvsbooks why not lol

So basically no sophs have been denied on this thread. Also, I am competing in the Google Science Fair, and results for regional finalists are on July 7th. Is regional finalist status on a international science fair a huge thing for IMSA, or a little thing on applications?
