Imsa applicant class of 2019

As for “very” soon. Selection was this week and I am thinking if they follow the same pattern as last year they will be mailed out tomorrow or early next week. They will arrive in a variety of time though because Illinois mail is slow.

@Qpint22 Placement testing in Litchfield is the same day as the one in Aurora.

@NerdyGirl2000 Thanks, what day is that exactly?

Edit: I found it thanks!!

@Qpint22 Placement Testing will be on May 20th.

Sorry i didn’t specify all of my info.

I am a boy and I Live an hour away from imsa. I am in honors precalulus (2-3 years above my grade level)

does that help at all?

Sorry I too am a male student and My school does not allow advanced math courses. I am currently taking Geometry

@Kagero Imsa care more about if you are a hard working student (means As on most advanced classes you have available at your school). They will not make a preference for a student who completed calculus over a student who only has geometry available at school. It is called equal opportunity.

Ok thank you I just wanted to say that to show I have the math credit. I also have completed biology online to accomplish the science credit.

I really do love math as you can tell by my user name. I really drove through that fact in my essays.

@themathgeek I am also an 8th grader, taking Biology online with Keystone school. 70% done, Started in the end of December. I think you have a very good chance to get in this year (unlike me - I have no significant math/science awards, my school does not do anything like this, also I am on Common Core program, which is a piece of mess…) So anybody who are on a regular math sequence will be better prepared… I just wondering how some schools in IL still have traditional math sequence and not a Common Core mess… You guys are soooo lucky!!!

Also, IMSA will only honor your super advanced math/science classes during admission if you did not get an A on it, they will take it easier on your. Good luck to you! I bet you will get in, please let me know if I was right. Lets check my magic <:-P

@kagero I think you have a good chance. Same with you @themathgeek

@kagero yes I agree, you are in too, like 95%

When do you guys think acceptance letters are going to be mailed out?

@isolatedmind NerdyGirl2000 just said it will be mailed tomorrow or at the beginning of next week

yeah i’ve been trying to find out. last year they came on April 29, so it could be next week

Thanks for the encouragement @javascript but even if your school doesnt have math and science stuff that is ok. I think they want to see that you took any opportunity that you had, so you should be ok

by the way I am taking biology through illinois virtual school. I will definitely post when I get the letter

For those of you curious in knowing they have been working for the past week on looking at your apps. If they follow similar timing I know last year I got my letter on May 2nd but they sent an email on April 23rd saying they would be in the mail soon. I know people who got them as early was that tuesday/wednesday so it depends on location but the wait is almost done.

@survivorfan1 I only heard of a small part of the college admission result of class 16: 1 Stanford (SCEA)+?, 2 Harvard (1 SCEA, 1 Regular), several Yale (1 SCEA+ RD), Princeton, Columbia, U Penn, U of Chicago, MIT, Cal Tech etc (no specific numbers). 6 Northwestern ED + some RD. Some Vanderbilt ED + RD. Many got into UIC GPPA. I know most of the top students are from Naperville area or other suburbs of Chicago, but also a few from outside Chicago area. These students all have high GPA, and some are student leaders in the student council or class club. One student seems to get into all the schools he applied to (like Cal Tech, MIT, U of Chicago, Harvard, Princeton, Stanford? etc). Siemens regional finalist is one of his strengths.
