Imsa applicant class of 2019

@notarapper When you say 20/60, do you mean 20 overall or 20 out of just the guys list or just the girls list?

@notarapper I was just wondering if you occasionally feel homesick. Also, was it hard leaving your friends at the other school? Thanks in advance!

P.S. I am waitlisted.

@notarapper @javascript @survivorfan1 Oh, ok, that makes sense. Thanks guys!

Hey, Could someone add me to the kik chat? I’m UnknownTiger841

Hi guys. I just found this chat. I also got invited to IMSA, class of 2019.

Can someone add me to the Kik group chat my user name is its_sushiiii

@lsutiger25 I did not get any emails about acceptance/denial from Integrated science. I suppose, it means I did not get accepted but should it be any email to inform me? I believe some people get accepted to both SEAMS and Integrated Science.

Could somebody please add me to the Kik chat? I got accepted and my username is AlgebraFalcon

@javascript I just got an email like an hour after you made that comment saying I have been denied… So, yeah keep alert as they are already sending out denial emails.

@lsutiger25 I did not get into Integrated science. Well, I am not qualified for free lunch, so I had a feelings that they will not invite me to this program. From another hand, SEAMS is 10 days at IMSA, but Integrated Science only a week. Also they are intersecting in times a bit, so it is probably a good thing that I got in only into SEAMS. Will have some “free” time.
@lsutiger25 do not give up on IMSA, they probably think you are too good and will not benefit from their summer programs… think it this way and re-apply next year.

so does placement testing affect my spot on the waiting list??

Hey guys, check it out that I found. Which makes me to rethink my attitude to the SAT test…

Educational reformer Alfie Kohn explains, “Research has repeatedly classified kids on the basis of whether they tend to be deep or shallow thinkers, and, for elementary, middle, and high school students, a positive correlation has been found between shallow thinking and how well kids do on standardized tests. So an individual student’s high test scores are not usually a good sign.”

Studies show that high test scores in school don’t correlate with adult accomplishments (but do line up with interpersonal immaturity). We’ve known this for a long time.

Back in 1985, the research seeking to link academic success with later success was examined. It was appropriated titled, “Do grades and tests predict adult accomplishment?” The conclusion: Not really!

The criteria for academic success isn’t a direct line to lifetime success. Studies show that grades and test scores do not necessarily correlate to later accomplishment in such areas as social leadership, the arts, or sciences.

Grades and tests only do a good job of forecasting how well youth will perform in future grades and tests. They are not good predictors of success in real life problems, relationships, or career advancement".

@bballtennis No, placement testing does not affect your spot on the waitlist. I read on one of IMSA’s FAQ pages that if people who were accepted do not wish to come, then the next person on the waitlist would replace them. I then wondered why IMSA had the placement exams right before decisions for the waitlist students. Apparently, IMSA said that it was because they want all the students to take the exams while they still have the subjects still in their head.

@CharlesVarracuda also i think a big part is that they want to know what level classes waitlisted people will be in. if you get called on move-in day, i think having your placement tests over with would be better. instead of making you take tests around the busyness of move-in, they already know what classes to put you in, more or less.

also if anyone doesn’t know about it, check out http://■■■■■■/bigsibling

@llanaknits Oh yeah. That’s true too.

@llanaknits OOh there’s that too. I remeber reading an ask.fm thing from someone who was called in on the move-in day and how it was absolutely crazy b/c they hadn’t even gotten the summer reading book so their RA let them skip a few group activities to get the summer hw done before classes started

I was just wondering if someone could add me to the KIK group chat? My username is Chak_V.

If anybody can help me with this. If there is a WiFi access in the dorms? Obviously, I can not use my laptop during summer camp, but I can take my cell phone. Just trying to figure out if there is any limitations using WiFi while in the room?

Anyone know if CTD at Northwestern is something that is good for IMSA application. Of course, I am not just going to CTD for application boost as I really enjoy the course I am taking at CTD. Just curious…

There’s wifi, but the IMSA people don’t give you the password, so you should bring your phone.
