Imus blast away

The only thing I have to say about Don Imus’ comments is it takes a lot of nerve for a guy who wear’s Haus’s old cowboy hat and hasn’t seen a decent barber in at least six months to call anyone else nappy headed.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=327668

Does anyone listen to Imus any more? This publicity may turn out to be a boost to his career.

He’s done…as he should be.

He always came across as such a bitter man. Yes, he skewered folks on both sides of the aisle, but in my view he always did it in such a mean dis-sprited way.

Ultimately he was nothing more than a bore.

Isn’t Rush Limbaugh the offensive drug addict on the other side of the aisle?
It seems to me that he has routinely spouted some pretty off the wall comments too. ;)

always figured that was a homemade toupee crafted by ramming his head into the flank of a sheep and carving away everything that wouldn’t stay put. I myself endorse everything uncivil short of violence in public discourse. otherwise we are all so lame(lamb)

Ironically enough, Rush used the same offensive word.

Good grief sokkermom - Imus doesn’t have a side of the aisle. The last time he admitted to voting it was for John McCain and George W. Bush. But they aren’t exempt from being called weasels and sissies.

I used to be an Imus fan, but his schtick got really old after awhile. And I think funky stuff is going on with that nonprofit down in NM. What he said about the Rutgers team was atrocious. If you listen to the so-called ‘context’ of the conversation with his butt-kissing compadres, it is even worse. Terrible.

AH, but you don’t endorse anything civil, so you are just as guilty as those who would encumber free speech in the opposite direction. To you, the only thing that makes an expressed idea valuable is its lack of civility. ;)

I’m amazed that anyone was able to interpret those mumbly sounds he makes as offensive words.

I believe he was in Kerry’s camp last election, but routinely blasted him too. Agree, ldmom, something’s always smelled fishy about that ranch complex in Ribera. Not just the grand main house, but the re-creation of an Old West town was overkill and requires a ton of donated money to maintain.

Bad publicity v. no publicity is considered a good thing in the celebrity world, and he’ll land somewhere even if the suits broom him. There’s always satellite with his good buddy, Howard Stern.

GoBlue - I had to laugh at Imus during the presidential campaigns. One week he has McCain on and he tells him he is voting for him and hates George W. Bush. During the hanging chad event, he’s bragging about how he voted for George W. Bush and spewing venom at Al Gore. I heard him talk about backing Kerry, but then when Swift Boat came out, he was all over him, so who knows.

The thing that bugs me about the ranch is how FEW kids are cared for there and how little time the facility is used for program services. Almost $3,000,000 annually in expenditures to serve 10 kids a week for 10 weeks is pretty out there.

For me, the point is, everyone else whom he typically abused is an adult. These latest victims are young people and students. They’re not TV talent contestants, pundits or politicians. They didn’t deserve to be the point of moronic humor.

His entire commentary on Rutgers. It’s pretty bad.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RF9BjB7Bzr0

Never listened to him in the past, won’t be starting now. All this talk about him being suspended or fired…why not let the marketplace decide? Isn’t that why we live in America? People vote with your minds and your dollars. Just don’t listen to him. If people turn him off and the advertisers get the message and stop supporting him he goes bye bye.

That’s the reason for the suspension. The suits are buying time to determine how the program’s sponsorship will shake out and to put their so-called disapproval of Imus on display…despite their delayed response which, of course, was only a result of the public uproar. If the $$'s still there, or the FCC doesn’t swoop in, he’ll be retained.

Rather than wasting his time with Sharpton, he should have been busy setting up a fat scholarship fund for female athletes at Rutgers, and making sure the entire bball team was on a full athletic scholarship, by meeting the financial need of those players that are not fully-funded. Simply requesting an apology meeting with them won’t cut it.

The day of the championship was probably among the happiest, if not the happiest, day of the Rutgers’ kids’ lives, and likely that of their parents as well.

Now this is what it will be remembered for.

Is syphilitic psychosis a likely explanation? I really thought Imus was in jail for fraud involving his “charity ranch for kids” scam. He should be. I don’t know a single person who listens to him & truly thought he was off the air years ago.

What a gross comment from a gross man. By all accounts, those girls are a great bunch. Matee Ajavon is a local hero to hundreds of little inner city girls who should never have had to hear such a vile conversation.

I think he may not survive this one.

Dramatic exit. Makes you wonder if he was ready to move on.
