India Class of 2015 Results Thread (RD)

Hello, I’m new on this thread.
So, I don’t really want to read the 26 pages before this, but has anyone here been accepted to Columbia? I’m trying to make a few acquaintances.

Hi crossbow, I got waitlisted, not that that counts. Did you get in? Wow! :)

By the way, guys, is there a shortcut method in which we could all add each other on fb? I’ll honestly love you all forever for the comfort/commiserations and finally congratulations.

Waitlisted by Columbia here too! I so want to get in.

tiyas42, are you going to submit a supplementary statement to them? They say it’s “strongly recommended” if your interest in Columbia is high.

crossbow, I got into Columbia! :)

Hey, I have got admission in Umich, Ann Arbor and RPI, Troy. Which one is better for Aeronautical and Aerospace engineering ?

Farewell to ani

I’m sure every new generation of CC users from the sub-continent as well as the whole CC family from around the world would love to see some more aniruddhs in the coming future! Good luck with Carnegie Mellon!

Pixie is going to Havard/Princeton, Ani to Mellon, compsci is yet to decide…What about Sultan and chelsea??

@confidential:

Sultan - Caltech
Chelsea - UPenn MnT
Violator - Brown

mysticgohan - caltech/cambridge
desperado - yale
pixie - Harvard/Pton
aniruddh - CMU
mynameisv - Penn
itsmylife - ???

TippuSultan’s not choosing Caltech over UChicago. UChicago FTW!

I think IML is going to UCLA.

@confidential, ani’s still on here somewhere. He’s too jobless to not be. ;)

Collegebeckons, AMAZING, just amazing.
And Tiyas, Columbia waitlist from India? I totally understand what you mean by saying that you’re happy with the w/l. Congrats on that Cornell acceptance btw!

@IML: UCLA ?
Nice tippu. How awesomely well-rounded do you have to be to get into both UChic and Caltech !

hi :)

I’m new, I just joined, but I’ve read through some of the threads.

Congratulations to everyone who got in! =D That’s amazing. We Indians are really doing a great job!

I got into Stanford, Princeton, Columbia and Dartmouth, and currently I’m debating between the former two. Any suggestions?

Also, is there anyone else from these schools here? I’d love to make a few new friends.

Thanks for creating this thread!

Hey itachis,
Congratss (wow those are some acceptances).
Can you PM me your stats and your school?
mynameisv

Hi itachis! congratulations! you have got great achievements!
I am a 2016er, so i will be applying in october 2011. I am interested in the stanford and MIT. So, i would also like to know your stats. it would help me next year. Would you please PM me?

@JustASenior: Are you attending Columbia? And which city are you from?

Is there anyone out there (from India) who is attending Columbia? Looking for acquaintances.

^JustASenior is attending and is of Indian descent, but doesn’t live in India.

I know that a girl from Delhi got into Columbia but I’m not sure if she’s attending coz she got into a lot of good schools.

Accepted:
UT Austin
UIUC
Georgia Tech
Carnegie Mellon

CBSE student (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, English Core), with very limited extracurriculars since I was preparing hard for IITJEE. JEE prep had an adverse effect on my marks too. But now I decided not to write JEE, even though I received the hall ticket and stuff.

Unsure where to enroll, but it won’t be UT Austin.

After reading a few results, I realised that there are a lot more Indians than I thought who are planning to do their undergrad in the US. And many of us have got into great colleges. Jai Hind!

CMU is a no-brainer

^ Assuming that cost is NOT a factor

Dude it is worth the premium. The average ECE grad comes out with a 75k job. The average CS grad comes out with 85k. That’s for 2010. Check out 2006. Now think as to how much the salaries will increase in 4 years. Anyway that’s not the point. CMU is on par with Cornell (the “engg ivy”) in every single aspect. The only other college he could consider is GT because that’s also a very good school. UIUC and Austin should be out.

But then again you will find immense success at any of those schools!
