<p>^I’m not saying that the school is going to make anyone promiscuous. I’m saying that such behavior is more common on the West coast esp southern cali, at least that’s what I’ve gauged from others who advised me.
What I’m saying is that it doesn’t change me, but it’d be great if it was of a more tolerable level? I realize that it is unavoidable at all schools, and hey, I’m no one to tell anyone else how to live their life.</p>
<p>EDIT: I get your point of view too though. Agreed, giving up a good school because of just this would be silly, but if you have a choice? Wash&Lee is a good LAC. It actually would be better if we knew the poster’s intended major. Sometimes that makes the decision easy!</p>

<p>my batch’s done incredibly well in iit exam! And interesting part is, many of the best performers from my aren’t even from fiitjee or national olympiad medallists. Go my school! I think our batch’s set a record for cool school admissions in the history of my school. Like five[or more?] <400 rankers and many more <1000 rankers. So happy.

<p>My school had good results too. We’re open admissions, so the only requirement to join is that you need to know English. We’ve had a number of good acceptances including: Penn, Columbia, Swarthmore, Middlebury, UChicago, Bowdoin, Duke, NYU, Oxford, Warwick, Imperial, UCL, UCLA etc. Not too shabby for an open admissions school.</p>

<p>^You do realize that FIITJEE has speifi people who get to work on solving the paper as soon as the exam is over and the whole paper’s solution is churned out in ~1 day?
From the score the student totals up on checking his solutions with theirs, FIITJEE predicts ranks (not exact, but <x, this way).
Those ranks, in the past years have always be correctly predicted.</p>
<p>In fact, they predict the ranks of students in the Rankers 1 and R2 batches months in advance by analyzing past performance.
In Nitin Jain’s batch, they had predicted that one of their students would get a top 10 rank, which indeed did happen, Nitin Jain got rank 1.</p>

<p>Well, if that’s the case, then 5 less than rank 400 is simply amazing these days. You guys should be celebrating this week. Whenever my school gets similar news, we usually ask for at least two days holiday. Try it, it might work.</p>
<p>^Really?! Wow I should I have tried that tactic with my school in India. Whenever someone crossed 95% or something in the boards. Once my cousin’s school got a holiday when someone falsely told the administration that a kidnapped superstar’s wife had died.</p>

<p>In IIT, what matters is how well you did relative to others. If you whole batch did well, chances are very few of them will get in.</p>

Neither did the whole team at FIITJEE or the other coaching centers for whose best students fiitjee offered this facility to predict scores too (another reason might be that they take different test series). Pardon our ignorance. I shall hurry right now to make sure the companies that have been coaching students for so many years add that piece of information to their database. :rolleyes:</p>
