A few days back I had asked for help on deciding between mainly Pudue and UCSD. After much thoght and going through many posts in the forum I have decided to go with UCSD. This is mostly for the follwing reasons

I am still undecided about my major. Purdue is a great engineering school but I may end up changing my major ( civil / structural engineering to chemical or even non engineering)

Purdue has rough weather. I will be away from home and I do not want to take a chance to find out if I can handle the cold. I might get depressed and it is not a question of one year but four years,

Purdue will have lot more Indian / International students. I need to get international scholarship / funding. Maybe my chances will be better to get scholarships / internships / campus jobs at UCSD. Again this is my feeling based on the colege demographics and gut feel. I could be absolutely wrong but then in the absence of any concrete information I have to make some assumptions.

UCSD has six college system. Though it makes it socially difficult it also means smaller class size for freshman especially in the core program. I am lost in large classes. Again this is an assumption based on blogs as I have not attended any admit day nor spoken to any counselor.

Finally UCSD feels right to my heart.

Do comment on my logic. And Best Wishes and God Speed to all of you.

College188 - Purdue will have lot more Indian / International students.

If you mean from India you may correct. UCSD will have a lot of students that are of Indian origin since California is overflowing with Indians.

Sorry for the misinterpretation. I know it was a joke…
Really sorry! I was too tensed because of my imminent IB exams. So, my frame of mind was different. DAMN!

Hello texaspg. I guessed as much from your postings on the RSI thread. Good to see parents here size=1)[/size].

I did attend one of the well known summer programs two years ago. Most of my camp mates got admissions at several top schools. Out of 30, about 16 ended up joining either MIT or CalTech, 7 went to Ivys and the rest, including myself, are at reasonably good colleges.

Hope your kid gets into his/her dream school.

Whollyglib - Where are you now - you must have done well if you went to this camp (If I may ask, what camp)?

Which part of US are you from?

As PerfectPixie may tell you, I am here to make sure she is not badmouthing USC and she goes to Harvard! We are also pulling for her to replace Amy Guttmann.

Guys, I have two questions. When you submit your EC’s to these U.S Colleges do you have to submit the certificates of these EC’s also? And do Indian’s have to submit their 9,10,11 and 12th marks or only 10th and 12th ,marks?

Do the Universities Literally call the school or what? And who should I get as a school councilor? Also, Can we just submit the final reports for each year. And what if I only submit 10th, and 12th since I will be applying only after taking a gap year after 12th. Plus, how do we send out report cards?
