India Class of 2015 Results Thread (RD)

^I guess you rubbed off on me that time eh?
I’m brutally un-diplomatic a lot of times, except they’re times when it actually counts. :stuck_out_tongue:
I wish I could be undiplomatic about my batchmates (or even accepted students from my country), but I can’t atleast on a public forum because there are many of my batchmates who lurk here too! I can of course send you a long PM filled with all my complaints written in full-PD-style. ;)

Well, Brown is a good school, of course it’d have some impressive students!

I don’t know what happened to my earlier post.

puttu, nemo: are you guys done with your exams? how did they go?

puttu, csfan: thanks! :)

^CC was undergoing maintenance till a half hour back or so. maybe coz of that? :S

I am shocked that people I respect endorse this type of talk. :(

Sorry. :(

I find PD’s un-diplomatic posts highly objectionable, especially when he goes out of his way to put down colleges (e.g., BU) that are not “worthy” of his attention. This is very unbecoming of someone who’ll be attending a highly respected institution like Stanford.

^ I agree. Each college is “my college” to the people in it, and we’ve no business commenting on the ones we are not attending.

PD - are the numbers you posted about international aid for a single year or all 4 years? If all 4, then it sounds like most schools give it to about 50 excluding Princeton?

eminemfan - here you go if you want see what people claimed as their profile on CC in the admissions threads. It may be mostly US based people though.

Yay! :D

I have to send you one of those too. One girl/guy (don’t want to give it away in case he/she is a lurker here) isn’t even coming here, but acted all BOSS for turning S down for a “better school”. Seriously. I so wanted to say, like, yo, you got in not because of anything you did, but because of the country you’re from (one that is COMPLETELY unheard of) and affirmative action (kinda).

Tippu, it’s all in good fun. I mean, this could also be a great resource for future applicants who think HYPS is attended only by the smartest in our society (like me, until sometime around mid-Feb). And I didn’t mean to belittle BU. It’s a fine school, and I actually applied to a peer of it - NYU (Stern) - as a low match. Interpret my joke as you would a best friend calling you fat and obese. You wouldn’t really care, because he/she didn’t really mean it, but it doesn’t mean that you’re not fat and obese. YougetwhatImean? [Also: I was very fat until a couple years ago, so this is a very relevant example :)]

Hi texaspg. I beleive those are for all four years. The elite need-aware schools take anywhere between 30 and 60 internationals on aid a year. HYP and M take quite a few more. Princeton and Harvard take close to a 100 on average, for example.

My cousin goes to Stanford. She is an international paying full. With her stats, she probably would have ended up at BU. Stanford really does take internationals who can pay full

Why the **** didn’t I apply to Stanford then. **** **** **** **** **** ■■■ ■■■ ■■■ ■■■ ■■■ commits suicide

^Whoa.
Don’t beat yourself up aniruddh, he said meh/so-so applicants only from obscure countries and not feeders like India. :p

Bye aniruddh.
Get your priorities straight.

I was just going through this thread.
I think it’s hilarious how when one person disses somebody else’s college, the guy gets all roughed up and defensive and personal about it.
An Indian student could make any of the Ivies, MIT or Stanford and feel on top of the world. It’s no big deal really. I don’t get why people exude vibes of “I’m going to Harvard; I’m better than all of you going to the lower Ivies” or “I’m going to Penn, doesn’t mean your better than me”.
There will always be rankings, and its no big deal.
I’m absolutely sure Harvard has its fair share of dip****s, and GTech has its fair share of geniuses too.

Let’s face it. US admissions are crapshoot. Now if you’re topping IIT, you have bragging rights.

Ok. But, what’s your point?

Kinda true. Although, even some of the kids from India haven’t really done anything notable outside of school, and from the way they write, I don’t think their SAT scores could be higher than 2200.

Just saying, if you don’t need aid, you don’t have to have accomplished a whole lot to get in here. The myth of needing to be a jaw-dropping applicant is just plain wrong.

@aniruddhc: If you still really want to attend Stanford, PM me. I’d be happy to help. As much as I love Stanford, I know how terrible it feels to have a dream school that you didn’t even apply to.

If you say so. Whatever.

Isn’t it funny how some people equate withdrawal of application to another school, after EA admission, with rejection of admission offer? Epitome of haughtiness.

Hey Tipu. Um, I never said I “rejected an admission offer” from any school (other than well Oxford EEM, LSE, Warwick, St Andrews and Imperial, but those don’t really count). I honestly don’t get why you continue to associate haughtiness with my posts. I really am not seriously bashing any of these schools. Honestly, can you lighten up and take a joke for once?

Ugh, I have to be at work in 3 hours, and I haven’t slept all night. (an actual) ■■■!

LOL. I have read enough of your jokes, all over CC. Don’t forget to take some psyllium before you crack your next joke. Have a nice day!

Well, yeah, often I’m opinionated (occasionally to the point of sounding “offensive”), but how is that a big deal? Don’t you want people to read the truth?

I can easily say that my international peers at S (and most of the full-paying internationals at other Ivy+ schools, let alone schools like BU) are very accomplished, but that simply would not be true.

You single out universities like BU as a place for people whom you think are not accomplished enough to be your peers at Stanford. Is this what you call a joke?

IMHO, the expressions of your opinions often come across as condescending. You don’t seem to care, no matter how we try to tell you.

What prompted post #667 has been sorted out. That’s all I care. :)

People don’t make jokes about Arizona State? About Cornell? About other schools? At the end of the day, no one gets offended because they understand the joke. I used that joke to make the point that a lot of international students at Stanford aren’t as qualified as I thought they would be (I doubt even 20% of the internationals class here has a 2200+ score, no kidding). Now whether I’m qualified to make such a judgement is another matter.

Because that’s how I am. My sense of humour can be interpreted as condescending, but honestly, I don’t really care about being politically correct. I’d rather try to show people the truth about college admissions, than lie to them with flowery language. And I’ve told you that before, yet you don’t seem to care either.

Haha, that’s good to hear.
Although, I feel I must say, you can only ask people to think a certain way for so long. If you truly appreciate that certain someone’s company, it’s better to just let them be themselves. Keep that in mind, Tipu! :)

Lol, anyways, this late night session has finally convinced me to end my CC career. Far too much time wasted. Plus, now I’m starting to offend everyone, rather than help, and that’s not what I came back to do.

Have a great year guys! :)
