India Class of 2015 Results Thread (RD)

Umm Ani what PD said about Stanford is not true.
Mynameisv had a pretty stellar application (great marks, head boy, international level debating, SATs, mind blowing recs etc etc) but he still got rejected from S. He was full pay. And he is from an obscure Mid Eastern country.

PD you need to get this clear. You are not the only smart person in the world. Those who got into Ivies+SM are as smart if not smarter than you. Stop finding ludacris ways to put down everyone else down.

So all you people need to get this straight.
ANY PART OF A PERSON’S APPLICATION CAN MAKE HIM/HER A FIT FOR ANY COLLEGE. When you see an accepted person’s stats and you jump to conclusions like ‘They admit all full pay internationals’ you morph into a ■■■■■■. Applications have sooooo many parts that to judge it on the factors one mentions in an online forum is lunatic. HAVE YOU READ THE PERSON’S ESSAYS?? HAVE YOU SEEN HIS RECOMMENDATIONS??
Stop acting like admission officers. You guys (and me) aren’t college pros or anything. WE are just kids who got in somewhere. Be happy and move on. The US college admissions method is long and cryptic process. We know a part of it but do not have any right to pass derogatory comments about others through our limited understanding of its working.

I was referring to Bahrain and Oman btw. But, still there are a couple people from UAE coming here, who are fairly surprising admits.

Strangely (imo) though, I think neither of them is Indian, unlike other top schools where everyone admitted from the Gulf is Indian lol.

If I’m not wrong, he didn’t get in anywhere besides Penn. There was obviously something off with his application, or perhaps just bad luck. Extremely low SAT score, boring essays, enough people with similar interests from the region accepted in the Early round, for example.

Ludicrous*

Ludacris is the rapper, silly. Ok, now I’ll stop. Lol. :)

Not putting anyone down. Asking people to realize that no school is above them. That jaw-droppingly awesome people don’t roam the halls of Stanford, regular people like I and several other mediocre internationals do. Apply and apply confidently, because unless you do, you will have a zero chance of getting in.

You know it all. Don’t you? QED

pd - that obviously was a joke!! I know who ludacris is :)

he got in to Berkeley and WUSL also.

Just because someone only got into 1 selective school doesn’t mean there was something wrong with their application! That’s just how this process is. And I wonder how many of us had a perfect application.

PD/R, you got in to Oxford, LSE, Warwick, Imperial, AND St. Andrew’s?! That is crazy impressive/borderline unbelievable!
(I know I should be berating him for being ‘insensitive’, but I really couldn’t think of much else beyond that point :p).
Tippu, my exams get over tomorrow, although I feel like I’m already done, since it’s French and you can’t really study for French. I have a feeling all this complacency about French is going to slap me in the face tomorrow morning at 9 though, so I’m gonna go and stick my nose dans un livre.

Sigh. PD. Could you just water down your statements a bit?

You guys should realize that the school you graduate from doesn’t matter. AT ALL. Believe me. And all top 20-25 schools are pretty much equal. You know that, I know that. So lets just cut it. What matters is what you do AT the school.

And oh, BU is amazing. So is Cornell. Cornell is sexay.

I think Tippu’s the last person to impose his opinions and beliefs on someone else. =)

And I agree that full pay internationals at BU (or many other schools that take mainly full pay internationals) wouldn’t be very accomplished, but I know that Indians who get into Stanford don’t just have school level activities no matter what pay they are. jmho.

How was your result, pixie ?

^It was a very pleasant surprise. =)

Just in case some of you haven’t come across this yet, here you go :
