India Class of 2015 Results Thread (RD)

Hey guys and girls :stuck_out_tongue:
Well my commiserations to all those waitlisted at Wellesley. But trust me when I say this, this admissions game is nothing but a lottery. I was deferred from Michigan, AH only to get accepted at WUSTL where so many applicants with stats much better than me got waitlisted. So there are a lot of factors that we (applicants) don’t even take into consideration, to be honest, even I am not sure what these are. But from what little I know of the process, I would say these include things like whether or not the applicant asks for financial aid, if they already have accepted too many people with similar applicant profiles, whether or not the admissions officer has had a good day or a bad day yada yada. So as the usual mantra goes, ‘Don’t think that your admission decision reflect who you are as a person’. Hope this helps

Hey, when were the Mich decisions releaseD?

whotoldyou: Well University of Michigan, AH has a rolling admissions policy so I got my decision in the last week of January.

Got into Berkeley, but rejected at Harvey Mudd College. Bahhh no worries, still happy about Berkeley :)

Hey, I was wondering about something… I got waitlisted at UChicago (like a lot of people…) and I was wondering if it had to do with asking for FA? If I changed this and stated that I do not need FA, would it affect my chances of getting off the waitlist, even very slightly?

^Yeah. They are need-sensitive to internationals on the waiting list.

To all U of C wait list-ers… Are you guys planning on doing something to get off the wait list? Chicago is my sigh absolute first choice, and I was wondering if any of you have any ideas…

Chicago doesn’t rank and they replied to my email saying I can send in an additional rec/ materials if I want to, but I am a little confused here… Heck, how in the world will I get hold of my teachers now? It took me a good part of a month to collect all recs… :S

Damn you, Chicago.

Damn you, Desperado! WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT? YOU ARE A TATA SCHOLAR!!! BTW, COMING TO BOMBAY ON 3rd APRIL? I AM. YEAHHH!

Btw, I am a chicago wait-lister too. We are very similar, you and I. :)

@collegebeckons and desperado- So now that both of you have gotten into Cornell I am assuming you were mailed a list of other students admitted to Cornell … Does this include names of students who will be accepted on the 30th of March?

I know this is a shot in the dark but I am kind of desperate!

@collegebeckons… Talk of stupid dreams! I just dont know why I am so crazy about Chicago!! I can’t seem to have enough of the place, it seems… I know, all my friends and family have been rolling their eyes at this Chicago craze!

Yeah, coming to Mumbai! Meet you soon then! It’s gonna be fun… I heard there is usually a maximum of five people? It’ll be pretty much of a close-interaction session then… Are you getting your parents along? Wish it wasn’t a Sunday

I’d agree with the similar bit, if you weren’t a sort-of harvard likely! :P…:D

yeah, collegebeckons and desperado. please remove your name from the waitlist. and give chance to others like me who havent gotten into amazing places like u 2

@Violator- I have received nothing of that sort… Not even an online acceptance letter… Just the FedEx package…

I believe they’ll release the names together…

Congratulations to the TATA scholars! Desperado: have you sent an email to UChicago yet?

I don’t think sending a recommendation will help much unless it has something substantially new to add about you.

^ Yep! I emailed them the moment I got my decision. And well, the reply to my email was something along the lines of, “… you are free to send us any additional reco/material that may strengthen your candidacy” . So I was kinda confused as to what might a substantial difference, since the wait list is inundated with strong, talented applicants…

Any plans/ideas anyone?

My first rejection letter. >_<… Thank you, Colgate… Life can be so very random!

@collegebeckons and Desperado- Congratulations!!! When did you get the FedEx package? Was there a separate application for the TATA Scholarship? Isn’t it strange that you got a scholarship letter before the acceptance letter, making the later purely academic :stuck_out_tongue:
Another shocker this, a TATA scholar gets rejected by Colgate o.O!

Dude it just goes to show how idiotic this whole admission process is.

What? Why haven’t I heard from Colgate?? :O

Hey Desperado dont get too perturbed. You got a fantastic scholarship and anirudh is right, this is a totally screwed up and random admissions process. But like you did, we all need only one good school to really like us :)

Desperado, DO NOT BOTHER with any decision. Why do you even CARE anymore? No, seriously.
