Well,
Heard of google.com?

As a temporary measure, I’ve shifted back to the previous theme, which looks a bit better. Am currently working on another post in the series, after which I’ll hit the sack.

@thetechnut I like your blog and I had seen it before I made my initial comment. Thanks for the wishes. I am here on behalf of my second son. He will be applying to colleges in 2013/14. He is too busy doing stuff he enjoys and I don’t want him to get hooked on to CC. (I have plenty of time to waste. :))

@aniruddh care to share your google-like blog? :p

@UnitCircle - Oh! A parent who read the blog. After hearing some of your (i.e. all CCers) encouraging words, I’ve semi-rebooted the semi-stagnant series (definition of which is no posts in the past week or so). Feel free to spread the word if you deem it useful. I put it out there for a reason. ;)

@aniruddh - You seem to know a bit about aesthetics and web design. As UnitCircle said, perhaps you’d like to share your blog!

aniruddh, I know you are a good sport. Hope you don’t mind if I kid around a bit.

great blog!!!

Much appreciated.

well, got my acceptance letter from rose-hulman inst. of technology today. Applied there as application cost was nil and its ranked #1 on U.S news rankings list. Does anybody know how good or bad it is otherwise for eng. ?

Could someone re-post the link to technut’s blog? I cant seem to find it.

Thanks

@pinkpanther32 - I checked and Rose-Hulman seems to have an excellent ranking for engineering courses for bachelors and masters degrees. Thing is, it’s probably like Harvey-Mudd College - not listed too high (due to lack of consideration under the doctoral category), but otherwise an excellent place to go. Where else have you applied (if applicable)?

@nkhlgeorge - You can find it at vivekn.net

just saying, HMC >> RHIT

And yes, RHIT is a great place to go IF you’re totally into engineering like GTech

well, this is what I found on CC’s visit reports section:

[Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology - Videos, Photos, and Visit Reports](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/vibe/rose-hulman-institute-of-technology)

seems it’s an under-rated school.

Yeah RHIT is good. Nikhlgeorge got a 5k ka scholarship also :D

Stereotypes, oh stereotypes.
GT is probably one of the few schools with a strong engg curriculum and an amazing sporting team.

Plus, it is top ranked for a lotta other majors other than engg! Go check the rankings…

Andddd… They have a pretty good business school from what I hear

they dont have a business school aniruddh

HMC and RHIT are both very similar schools. Both are primarily small engineering schools with a focus on undergraduates, both have skewed ratios(though there are all girl colleges in close vicinity to both) and small class sizes.
For what its is worth HMC has a higher average SAT score and a lower acceptance rate.

I personally feel both of them are at par. However Terra Haute-is not so great a place to live in compared to Claremont. Also HMC only offers a general engineering degree whereas RHIT offers specialisation in optics/mechanical/electrical/civil and chemical.
HMC also has a compulsory internship/work exp program called Clinics, whereas Rose has something called RHIT ventures.

@ nkhlgeorge: are u a us citizen? because from what I have heard Rose does not offer any scholarship to internationals. What were ur SAT/Toefl scores?

Damn, management. Sorry! Typo!

HMC does have a bigger name than RHIT in my opinion.

Nope. They do provide merit based aid to internationals.
