^What’s wrong with you?

God has spoken.

But well, there ARE exceptions to this rule. I can give you an example of a fellow Indian that DOES fit the “HYPSM Cambridge Berkeley IIT and whatnot” bill

Add Silver at ILO, Gold at IPhO and 5s in five APs.
800 M, 750 W, 800 CR, 800 PCM2
And amazing essays. I’ve read them.

So my point is, if you can top * ** that * **, then maybe we’d believe you :)

^Since tenth grade?

See, CC tries to detract even the best of the bests.

She is SO awesome.

@midnightsanity94 - Now that I come to think of it, UChic is probably one of the coolest names for a university. ;)

@chelsearox - Yes. You’re right. But I think I clarified that what I meant is that I’m satisfied with my applications at this point. I’ve tried to do my best, and I’ve made sure all of it is mentioned on the apps. Since they’re all being processed, there’s little point agonizing over them any longer. Instead, I’ll try to do better in my pre-boards to send the universities a nice mid-year report.

@UnitCircle - Thank you very much.
Best of luck to your son/daughter.

I sniff a few deleted posts somewhere, since some posts are referring to non-existent entires.

@DreamsUnlimited - I understand that you are more experienced on this forum than either me or UnitCircle, but hey, there’s no harm in a little friendly words of encouragement right? ;)

And in response to your other question, I don’t know about ‘technut’, but I’m somebody else - ‘thetechnut’. It’s a name I’ve been using for several years now, so I think there might be a misunderstanding here.

@aniruddhc - She is indeed a very impressive applicant (not considering that she had just passed 10th at the time!) I wonder where she is now. As for your concluding line, I’d say that no, I can’t top it, because my academics don’t stack up the same way. Yes, I do have a 2400 SATII in PCMII, but apart from that I have varied ECs over the past few years which has culminated in me getting the post of Head Boy at school. So yeah, I’ll just hope for the best, and not get too panicky, or try to get others to “chance” me too much. :P

@“”“”“THE”“”"technut - This forum is filled with many ■■■■■■. Therefore, its necessary to tore apart those idiots (with some sense of humor :p).

Now it is clear to me that you are not a ■■■■■ & definitely a top-school caliber student. Congratulations on your achievements.

BTW Nice to meet you. I am from Bangladesh.

Plagiarizing the idea from THE SOCIAL NETWORK:
Drop “the”. Let it be just technut. Its clean.

@DreamsUnlimited - Thanks for spelling my name right this time. Much appreciated. ;)

<british aristocratic=“” accent=“”>
And yes, trollitis is a disease that has plagued bulletin boards, chatrooms and forums since time immemorial. Come, let us unite to rid the world of this evil.
</british>

As for dropping “the”. I’m afraid I can’t do that. It used to be the name of my blog till a few weeks ago. I kind of like it the way it is.

Nice to meet you too. I don’t think I need to tell you where I’m from. ;)

Great blog there technut … Really liked it …

Da**it. Why didn’t I think of this? And with that goes any and every form of anonymity. Bah…

@compscifan - Nevertheless, glad you liked it. :)

Hello Mr Blogger cum Admission Counselor…

great advice there…

Haha. Well to be honest. I started that series for 2 reasons:

1) I was wasting time repeating the same information to different people.
2) I wanted to help increase awareness among my peers because in my opinion, there are some people out there who remain oblivious to the opportunities that are available to them and the fact that they might be strong candidates as well.

In fact, after the board examinations are over, irrespective of whether I enter one of my top choices, I will be holding a series of lectures and workshops at school about foreign admissions.

Ore ore… Khoob Bhalo… If this was FB with superlike button, I would have clicked it.

Not that you guys care about this, but the abbreviation for International Linguistics Olympiad is IOL, and not ILO.

From Wiki, “The abbreviation IOL is deliberately chosen not to correspond to the name of the organization in any particular language, and member organizations are free to choose for themselves how to designate the competition in their own language.”

I, for one, found this interesting.

And, hello thetechnut! Welcome to this forum. :)

thetechnut, I really liked your blog! I wonder where you get the time to do it, especially with boards coming up though, haha.
I didn’t scrutinize it much, but I agree that there are many peers who are not aware about the opportunities around them.

@itsmylife99: Thanks
did you apply anywhere early ?
@thetechnut: Your blog is really, really nice. I didn’t get the chance to go through much content, but the layout etc. is excellent. These days most blogs are so unreadable and horrible, aesthetically. Also, if you’re interested in tech, look up the ADAM tablet by Notion Ink. I’ve preordered it. Kicks the iPad’s ass. Made by IITians. You’re referring to courses currently in HS or courses in UChic ?
@midnightsanity94: I know… I absolutely loved that place… you should read my Why Swarthmore statement. But probably to console me, a friend currently at Pomona told me that she knows a lot of people who have had bad experiences there… I think because of the rigor. Did you ED/EA ?

@thetechnut - you are welcome.

@DreamsUnlimited - I won’t be very polite next time.

Forgive me for being obtuse, but can someone link me to this brilliant blog of technut’s?

@DreamsUnlimited - Haha, thanks.

@itsmylife99 - Thanks for the welcome.

@goodwood8 - Actually, I’m a bit disappointed with the design at the moment. I plan to do a design revamp on my birthday or something.
Actually I do know about the Adam, and I agree that it is a killer device.
I wanted to know about your UChic courses, but knowing about your HS courses wouldn’t hurt either. ;)

@rsaxena - Oh trust me, they’re overstating things.
Search it up on Google.

P.S. You all are welcome to subscribe to the blog if you want. I’ve got loads of options for that including RSS feed, E-mail subscription, Facebook page and Ovi store app. They’re all available via a box of links at the top of the right sidebar on the blog.

I loved your blog as well!

Why don’t you export it to Squarespace?

No thanks. I don’t like trials. Especially the ones that will involve changing something that I’m currently OK with (especially because this one might/might not involve time and effort). Besides, I’m not going to pay up for a paid CMS while wordpress.org is up and running.
