hi,
i m an indian student and want to study mbbs in canada

  2. mcgill university
i hv secured 95% in class 12 cbse board. IS THERE ANY CHANCE FOR ME ???

Neither U of T nor McGill have degrees in “mbbs”. Perhaps you could clarify what you would like to study.

@bouders From what I know, an MBBS is a medical degree - I believe OP is talking (potentially) about studying medicine in the schools they listed above

@QuantumStudent @Missbansal Neither U of T nor McGill have mbbs degrees. They have MD degrees which are postgraduate degrees as they are in the US. There are 10 spots available at U of T for international applicants and 2 at McGill.

You will need a bachelor’s degree or the Indian equivalent in order to apply to any North American medical school.

Canadian universities used to have combined programs for both undergrad and MD applicants. Entry was in 1st year. I don’t know if any still use that system but I haven’t seen any mention of them for many years. I think that Queen’s may have a first entry program with a two year ‘undergrad’ and smooth entry to med studies. That was a pilot project a few years ago so not sure it is still available.

@alwaysamom One of D16’s friends applied to Queen’s University Accelerated Route to Medical School (QuARMS) this past year. There were about 1000 applicants for 10 positions. It’s the only program of its type in Canada. I’m not aware of any other combined programs existing in Canada in the past 35 years.

Yes, that’s why I said many years. It was the typical way when I was in university. We had this same conversation with several of my Ds fellow residents over the holidays.

@Missbansal : There are no MBBS degrees offered in North America after 12th grade. You are require to complete an undergraduate degree in order to be eligible for applying to medical school. There are a few American universities that if you are selected will let you start medical school after the 3rd year of UG class, they are the accelerated medical programs. There are a few schools that offer combined degree programs which are 8 years but eliminates the need for taking MCAT ( entrance exam for medical program)

Here’s a list of these programs in the USA
