<p>speaking of indian people, i was coming back from school today and some guy was blasting bhangra music. me and my friends all started laughing (we’re all desi) and he stared at us like we were idiots.</p>
<p>i’ve heard beta and beti, but what’s betu? oohhh and i love it when my best friend’s mom answers the phone and goes, “oh okay beta i shall give the phone to her. BETAAAAA DEEPTI IS ON THE PHONE FOR YOU!” i call my best white friend beta, only because all my desi friends started calling each other beta one random day and she’s all, “why are you guys calling each other sororities …?” and we explained it to her … now we’re all betas. she does a pretty good indian accent.</p>
<p>“Desi” must be the least heterosexual-sounding word ever invented. I cringe whenever my friends use it to refer to me or even themselves.</p>
