gandalf i’m willing to bet on it :p

LOL!!!..well…i need to have a personal cell to sms often…so astrix u lose the bet…wat was the stake??..

Guys, OOL has a very valid point. Who here will continue to log in, say, about a couple of weeks from now?! Remember, I still have a long way to go, and I’ll be needing you guys then. It’s not over yet.

Man, you make it sound so easy. And ive been trying to get myself to read the books that are open in front of me (im lugging a 800 page book around the house - read 5 pages in as many hours)

merc, i will.

I need to maintain a semblance of sanity atleast till the 29th of May

I’m back :D

so shash how was the INOI?
merc: I’ll be here too :D

random : I got my AIEEE admit card yay!! I’m happy coz I thought it was another rejection :p

fcukthis im screwed… cant solve one damn problem in math :(

INOI on 27th Apr.

Right now worried about the 10th Apr

My random thought - the VIT guys are bastards

merc - join the club. methinks 50 phy, 40 chem, and about 25 maths should see me through

Merc, I will!! this was much more than a college admissions thing. I think so anyway.

And I’ve also decided to do Swarthmore ED this year  I came to like Swat much more after I applied and I don’t think that was reflected in my application. If I get in, cool, if I don’t, I’ll move on with life… I can’t go through RD’s again. Pton will be first love but it was a pipe dream of sorts I guess.

Such, cooldude, merc: i didn’t mean it like ignoring you people or anything past few days, just needed time to come to terms with stuff. such, i’m happy to say i can feel happy for you now without being envious. a heart-felt congratulations is in order =:)

much love,

astrix

astrix, you skipping a year?

no, i’ll be joining college here / applying for freshman admission

So wont you have to apply for transfer? I think you would at MIT atleast. (thats the only place i know abt)

that’s a valid point, i’m still looking into it

let me know when you reach a conclusion

Dont think ill apply again anyways - i cannot go through the charade of getting recs filled in from my h.s. teachers again

1) Astrix, you mean you’ll join college and apply as freshman? Isn’t that not allowed? Enlighten me on this, as I was seriously thinking of taking a year off.

2) Shashank - I did 96 marks last year, 70+ from physics  I’m a total minnow when it comes to chem and math, but this time I’m studying chem like anything! But you should aim for at least 125+ cuz I aimed for 110 last year and got 96… freakin 4 questions would’ve gotten me thru :(

3) Recs from teachers - I’ve figured this out. Write them yourself, ask your teachers to sign. We’ve had enough of this @#!(#%% now, and it’s time we “took the power back” Most princ, teachers etc won’t mind signing if the rec you write is not too ambitious… In fact I’m planning on using the same recs I used this year for next year too… they were really good (except school report f(@&#%(*@ school  )

Another one??!!??!!?!

Done that. Didnt work, now, did it??

Besides, the bigger problem for me is my transcript. I suppose none of you have ever been to a KV so ill tell you - my ****ing report card for the entire year had exactly 2 exam sets in it when i sent it to MIT, and 2 more preboard exams when i sent it to pton. No assignments, projects, etc. What makes it pathetic is that there are columns for thse in the report but theyre just struck off.

I place all the blame for my rejections on my school.

Oh, and about too ambitious reports, my physics teachers rec (i wrote it) basically said i was gods gift to mankind without actually using those words.

My teacher chewed my ears off saying it wasnt good enough, and that i should include more stuff into it (he also hinted that he didnt give a rats ass if the stuff was true or not)

i’ll think the whole thing over in june or something – but i’m positive it’s possible, except for places that have specific policies on that (mit / wesleyan). i’m hoping swat doesn’t have a policy on that.

What’s the way out? I’m not giving up on it now. I cant stand the fiasco we call education in india.

merc, i think you need to reconsider. Lets say you clear the JEE. Would you join the IIT? Do you atleast have a few indian institution you would join?

astrix, looks like we’re doing the same things…im doing ED princeton while I join a college.
