Ritz, think of spending your money on first reforming the education that women will get. Women’s education is an issue beaten to death, to the extent that guys dont have a decent place to study at anymore (you know about Patna - Notre Dame, Mt Carmel, St Joseph’s, Women’s College…!).

Just a thought…

I totally agree with you, womens education and gender equality have been done to death as far as NGO s are concerned but that does not change ground realities. My father comes from a village in Bihar where educating the girl child is an afterthought esp amongst the poor sections of society. Patna is hardly representative of Bihar and even you can vouch for that.

As far as reformation of education is concerned, I feel that the entire system in India needs a major overhaul. We need to put the emphasis back on learning. But unless I become a politician or an IAS officer, how can i change that except maybe bringing it to the attention of the media through activism. Thus I prefer to focus my attention on primary and high school education for the time being.

akash, astrix, etc. - princeton does not accept transfers

about eng being better than biz…i’d say ‘bullsht’…i feel that every1 has core competencies and should focus on wht their passions, strengths, interests and aptitude lies…the reason i like US education system is because it gives you an opportunity to study both eng+biz at the same time, unlike the indian education system…

ritz - i hear u about women’s education…if u ever need a lieutenant for that cause…holler at me…

Hello i know about WWF ( i was a big fan when i was 5  ) but people here need to get on with times !

Anyway Merc whats your EFC? I can probably help you out finding out abt colleges. And i do agree with the rest of the pack above - dont skip another year as you’ll be 20 4 years UG and 2 years masters would mean you would be 28 when you start earning !

merc - i second nomad (and rest of the crowd’s suggestion) but at the same time…what i’d recommend is if you really want to go to the HYPSM…enroll into an indian uni for safety sake…give your SAT…get stellar scores…apply to HYPSM…if you get in…thats great…jump the ship…HYPSM is very well worth another year…but if you dont…you still will be in the indian system…OR…get to an average US uni this year…give your SAT back in the summer…get good grades in fall sem…apply for transfer (understanding that it will be very difficult)

wwe…wwf??? i used to love hitman hart and undertaker when i was like…4-5…:p…havent seen it for like ages…

This is FUNNY!!

this will bring you to tears …

An operations manager for Jack in the Box was late for a meeting and
called his boss to tell him he was running late. As he was leaving the voice
mail message, he witnessed an accident and went on to provide “play by play”
of the incident. This is the actual voice mail message. It was forwarded
so many times within Jack in the Box, it crashed their voice mail server.

i have finally surrendered 2nd highest posts on TiT #2 :(

btw - what do you guys think of ‘mercy killing’??? support it or against it??? and why??

Im 15 Guju from Mississippi

adides- are you talking about euthanasia(sp?)?

ok so this mornin paper said,
NUS: 20000 applied for 6000 places
NTU: 20000 for 4700
SMU: 9000 for 1100 and still counting as deadlien extended to 12th from 4th…

I am curious, to which US uni do these compare in terms of selectivity…? ya i noe it doe snot really indicate anythin abt standards…

NUS 30 % JHU Northwestern etc ( maybe cornell too but not sure)

NTU 25 % WUSTL, Rice etc

SMU seems more selective

rain - yeah…

then i think that people should do living wills, so we dont get into another terri shivo case.

just visited georgetown guys
and it is AWESOME

duke on sunday-monday

woohoo!!

rani the thing many people would think its foolish to make wills in case of “vegetative state” .

Anyway 5 years of no improvement is too much. Call me heartless but I simply cant bear the fact that the person’s family is suffering emotionally, physically and mentally looking at the patient everyday. I couldnt watching her for 5 mins, and her family is paying tons of money to prolong her suffering. This is simply not right

Nomad- that is pretty much the way I feel too so yeah I whole heartedly support euthanasia.

nomad- it didnt cost them “tons of money” to prolong her “SUFFERING”

two things

 1. she was on a feeding tube(not life support), this is very cheap.
 2. she wasnt in any pain (as alleged by her husband himself- even whilst she died, oh sorry not died, whislt she was starved to death)

such- what they did to terry schivo wasnt euthanasia. they “let” her die, they didnt kill her. the latter is euthanasia. (this is only politically speaking)

Neha, do those numbers include international applicants?

Oh, and if anyone applied to VIT, they got 40k apps for 1.2k seats

yeah I know flamethrower- I am talking about the general idea

BEST OF LUCK FOR THE JEE SCREENING…

(Whoever is writing)
