<p>flame - i am a hardcore capitalist as well (and yeah, like u - i am a gujju as well :p) but what i meant by egalitarian economic opportunities means opportunities without barriers of caste, creed, religion, or state. On a side topic, i feel the economic disparity between the eastern states (UP, Bihar) vs. the western states (mah, guj) is one of the most disconcerting and a growing geopolitical concerns that we will have to answer in the next 10-15 years</p>

<p>Capitalism is economically as efficient as it gets but I disagree that a fully-fledged capitalist approach would do much good to our country. On the other hand, India has to make sure that they don’t hang on to the planned side for too long. Markets are being liberalized now and that’s good. But 100% free-market is never going to be socially plausible.</p>
