shekar, shashank has finished BITSAT. maybe you should ask him.

astrix good luck even though you aren’t frightfully enthusiastic about it :p

http://www.iht.com/articles/2005/05/03/news/india.php</a></p>

remarks?

BITSAT is a joke. The questions are ridiculously easy. Although my performance on it probably negates any credibility i may have, i think its safe to say the damn thing is easy. The whole problem with it is that it is too memory oriented, and, well, easy. That’ll probably push the cutoffs really high. As for repeating questions - of they exist. What did you expect? But you can take it from me that is not worth mugging up the answers. The questions arent that hard. Just make sure that you dont waste lots of time trying to solve by calculation the calculation heavy questions. For example, in conics questions, its generally enough to plug in the values to eliminate 2 or 3 of the options. And look for symmetry in physics and geometry questions

sorry but it seems like u all give bitsat at diff times? so not similar to iit?? more liek sats is it??

yes. the thing is computer based and they dont have enough computers to get everyone to do it at the same time. Its kinda more like the TOEFL

PS - it is NOT adaptive. unfortunately.

hey guys, havent posted here for ages, so i dont know whats going on or whatever on TiT…i just wanted to show you guys my portfolio which ive finally put up.

"here’s another weird random article… (with an undercurrent anti-india theme?) strangley enough, it’s not satire…
India chews over horny problem of holy cows
Tuesday, May 3, 2005 "

I think that Kerala is the only state where
holy cows’ are sold openly as
tasty beef’. There never is any problem of animals lurking or strolling in the roads of the towns in Kerala, eventhough the wildlife is pretty good here.
When I was a small kid (< 3Y), we were living near a forest and once a tiger strolled beside our house! Very frequently, wild boars used to come and dig up for the edible roots.
But in cities and towns, we don’t have animals on streets. In the compound of my house in the middle of Trivandrum, there are about 10 mongooses sharing the compund with us. Plus there are cats in the neighbourhood and a lot birds as well. But again, they don’t go for stroll in the roads.

"I don’t like monkeys "

I remember that photo of yours that you had sent to TheIndianThread earlier. So, you don’t like self, is it not?

=== S H A B I N =============

Hi I’m back had some visitors

LOL
such,
what do u expect the slf pity code to do?

sucharita is used to using such tags. dont think they are supposed to do anything other than perhaps convey her ‘feelings’, or is it ‘emotions’

Yeah I sort of noticed her using them a lot.

such,
why don’t u go get a coldarin. It always works for me.

~shekhar9:
“it seems they used some rooms in the astronomy dep. at Caltech for the shoot and a techie from the crew shut off a comp in one of the rooms cause he wanted an extra power slot. That comp happened to be the one connected to the astronomy dep antenna and also the only one that recieves data from the Hubble i.e. the technician got the Hubble offline for a few hours.”

What is the source of this info, shekhar?

-

Actually I came to know through a friend but its also mentioned here check out the last point in the opening text for the first episode

Is this wrong

I’m an international student from India (hence the posting here). I applied to a number of colleges and got into a number of prestigious ones. While filling up the hours/week week/year columns instead of filling in an average, for a few of the activities, I filled in about the highest number of hours I’d worked in any given week and then filled in the total number of weeks I’d worked on that particular activity. Feeling a bit guilty about this and was wondering if its unethical?

hydel, you opened a thread for this question somewhere, didnt you?

I think it is unethical, but maybe its just the part of me thats still down on the rejections. Well, atleast i didnt lie on my application - (perhaps the only saving grace.)

Are u sure u r an Indian. Kuch gadbad hai! Indians don’t really feel guilty for any mistakes they commit.:D

On a serious note,
Nope man u did right. Some of us here are kicking ourselves for not having done that whenever we see someone who has.:(

shash,
I happened to see NTVM’s Application copies at my college and he’s supposed to have done social work for 10 hours a week for 30 weeks a year. Also he is supposedly a member of UNICEF movement against child labour.

knowing him, he may even have done some of that, but only if he gets certificates for doing so.

He is supposed to have helped flood victims in 2004. As far as I know all we had in 2004 was a severe drought.
