I haven’t heard anything. I applied to BIDS in kelley/luddy.
I haven’t
My son’s feel at Kelley is that a good percentage of the kids who had the stats for DA had a lot of the Gen Ed requirements done through AP/Dual Enrollment credits. He had a few to do but worked them in.
Good luck wherever you end up.
someone on reddit said
”Not everyone has gotten their Kelley decisions yet. Last year they did it in waves and it said pre-business until Kelley made their decision, and then it changed to direct admit (or stayed pre-business).”
To those who see Waitlist info, where exactly does that appear? Thanks!
My OOS DS - still nothing. His primary major was Business Exploratory / Pre-business with alternate as Sports Marketing & Mgmt. Not as strong a GPA as so many of you here. Getting tired of asking him to refresh… sigh. He has another strong favorite but I think IU is a great school so trying to keep positive. It’s after 5pm now.
My daughter was accepted to ND Mendoza, but right now she would pick UNC Kenan-Flagler if she was a direct admit there. She hasn’t visited IU, but I know if she sees the campus she will fall in love it with it. So who knows where she’ll end up, but in the end, it doesn’t matter as long as the kids make the most of their experience.
My oos daughter still has not heard anything
For background, I grew up outside of Chicago, did 3 year undergrad at UIUC and then 4 years of professional school there(so seven years in Champaign Urbana
and 3 degrees). Then we moved out to Raleigh area, and I ended up doing the 2 year fulltime MBA at KFBS. We’ve lived in the Raleigh area for almost 27 years now (went back to work for Eli Llly in Indy for a year and a half right after I finished the MBA). And quite a few of my friends / acquaintances in the RTP area are KFBS BBA or MAC grads. As noted, my son did first year at Daniels and absolutely loved it - but he had the UNC offer in his back pocket and it was his first choice initially, he’s currently an Economics/PolySci major/minor (and econ is not in KFBS) so he is looking to apply again and if not in, will request the ability to get a business minor instead. Our eldest daughter (D22) is now a LHD 26 - having just finished a Texas (not McCombs but in Jackson School of Geosciences - Hydrology/engineering) so we’ve been in an out of Austin a bunch and I’ve been thru both the undergrad and grad B-School facilities on tours and family weekends plenty!.
UNC is relatively a small school (20k undergrads or so) and KFBS is one of the smaller /smallest top B-Schools in the country n(I think they said they extended 400 DA admits for EA and who knows for RD, and historically around 530 new students a year but again expansion to add a couple hundred more (it was estimated at a 50% increase). So all of KFBS undergrad will now be somewhere around the average class size of Kelley. It also won’t have nearly the total number of Alumni connections that a huge B-School will obviously have.
Y0u also are a general business student and get a BBA - there are areas you can try to concentrate in but not as declared majors a such as “Finance” or “Marketing” per se - as opposed to major admissions straight into many of the larger schools (Like Kelley)
It is small, but there is a lot of attention given to individual students and while there is competition for internships and special opportunities - I am told it is not nearly the battle to get your desired classes, your desired on campus company invites, your internships etc as it is at many larger B-Schools. The UNC campus is pretty, but quite a bit of it is historic-older - however the B-School facilities are very modern - the McColl Building was very new when I was there 25 years ago - and it has been re-modelled/updated twice since then adding in some fantastic modern technology for their “Trading Room” and analytics. I have not been through the newest addition, Bell Hall, but am told it’s pretty swank as well.
My D26 has loved McCombs, KFBS, Kelley on her visits there, and we will definitely visit Daniels (Her mother and half of her extended Indiana Family are all Purdue Grads, except the one lone wolf, her mom is IU. House Divided as they say.)
If your son gets into KFBS as DA and has decisions to make, the two of you should do a quick three day get away - RDU is the easiest airport to get in/out of I’ve been in, and it is less than 20 minutes interstate drive to UNC campus. And there will be plenty of cheap hotel options around Chapel Hill / Durham and Raleigh (we are all literally kissing cousins) - He will either feel the smaller school vibe or he won’t.
If he doesn’t get into KFBS DA, but gets into UNC, thats still a fantastic school - and great from Pre-Med options - and he can still apply to KFBS after first year, but as I noted supposedly with the priority admission shift, it will be tougher to get into KFBS if you are already a second year student applying…
DS got into Kelley as a DA! 4.1 GPA, 1540 SAT and good (but not amazing ECs) - varsity sport, part time job, volunteering, case competitions, etc. We are thrilled! It is his top choice.
Congrats! Just now?
For those who haven’t heard. I checked last year’s thread, and it seems like there were quite a few people who didn’t hear until the 16th. I wonder if that will be us. It seems like there were steady waves, but now it has slowed down. I have to say this is quite distracting. Daughter’s friends have started to find out since 10 AM this morning, and it is tough to just go about your day and focus in school when people keep announcing they got in.
A few hours ago - sorry we were just celebrating a bit.
still waiting. anyone else?
Yes
yes!
We are similar app and haven’t heard yet! Alternate was Exploratory General. Fingers crossed!!!
did she check her portal?
DD (oos) hasn’t heard yet either but she’s not a business school applicant. She has a 3.82 uw and a 1400 SAT. Wondering if somehow we missed the early action window? She submitted the common app on Nov. 1 at 8 pm but her counselor sent supporting documents the next day—is that possibly the issue?
We are pre business (BSB) and economics BA as second choice. No admission decision yet
