It is indeed confusing, but seems like the requirements this past year were the result of it being a ‘transition year’ as they looked to rework the math curriculum and DA criteria
For UT-Austin this has dropped down to 7%, then 6% - and I wouldn’t be surprised if they need to drop it down to 5% in the next application cycle or two.
I suppose I should have just listened to my daughter, who is applying OOS this year, the Class Rank percentage is now down at 5% for Auto Admit to UTA for in-state students.
Does anyone know if they plan on releasing decisions in batches or all on one day? Last year my D25 found out on Dec 13, but a different thread indicated they might wait to release all decisions on Jan 15 this year.
I’m wondering that also. When my older son applied to Kelley he didn’t quite have the SAT scores for DA, so he did the review process (I forget what it was called back then). He was admitted pre-business in December and then was DA in February or March. This was in 2024. My other son applied to Kelley this fall. Does anyone know if you still get admitted pre-business and then it changes to business later if they are admitted to Kelley?
When my son was admitted last December, it was a direct admission to Kelley. But who knows what that means for this year. S26 is hoping for Sport Management..so much less to discuss. lol
Seems like last year there were a few batches as part of the transition from rolling to early action. Hoping there will still be some releases in December vs. Jan 15 only
Last year, they started on Wednesday, Dec 11, and some students were notified through Friday. Then it didn’t start up again until closer to Jan 15. My son (who was a DA to Kelley) heard on Dec 12.
My D25 was a DA to Kelley last year too and found out on 12/12. My D26 has higher stats but Kelley has gone holistic this year, so I think it might take longer for decisions and it’ll probably be more difficult to get in.
There are so many unknowns for Kelley. How many apps will they receive now that Auto-DA and the safety guarantee is gone along with the extra work in applying vs just submitting your scores basically? Will Kelley balance its institutional priorities more intently now that it has full discretion (i.e. women admits)? Will it weight higher some concept that it hasn’t been able to do in the past? What will be the yield from holistic? You can get some idea from the petitions accepted in the last 2 years what its guidelines for admission will be. How many didn’t fill out the admission at all but listed Pre-biz in their goals and try standard admit and how many will IU admit in that category?
Not a lot says a December decision wave other than those who did not apply to Kelley. Being this isn’t just a Kelley thread.
With all the changes, do you know if students who applied to Kelley can still be admitted to IU liberal arts if not admitted to Kelley, or is it a straight rejection?
I’m pretty sure IU straight up says that the student will -first- be admitted to IU, and once admitted if they checked off a Kelley specific Major AND filled out the additional questionnaire that they would be evaluated for Kelley and find out about 3 weeks after the initial admissions notification.
When will I find out if I’ve been admitted to Kelley?
Students who apply to Indiana University Bloomington by the Early Action deadline of November 1 and submit their KPI by November 15 will receive a response from IU Office of Admission regarding admission status with IU by January 15.
If admitted to IU, students will also receive a Kelley direct admission decision—categorized as admitted, waitlisted, or pre-business. Students placed on the Kelley direct admission waitlist can expect a final decision no later than April 17.
What if I’m admitted to IU but not offered direct admission to Kelley?
Applicants who are not offered direct admission to Kelley can still be admitted to IU as a pre-business student or to their second-choice major. Pre-business students will have the opportunity to apply to Kelley through standard admission after meeting certain academic requirements. Students admitted to their second-choice major will have the opportunity to pursue a minor or certificate from Kelley.
