Indiana University - Bloomington Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

Hi and thanks for this info, it was so helpful - can you also fulfill Gen Ed and foreign language requirements thru study abroad?

Yes!

IU Bloomington ranks fourth nationally, first in Big Ten for students studying abroad: IU News.

Many, many students choose to study abroad rather than take French-101 on campus for example. There are many avenues for scholarships (for current students to apply) and everything from semester-long, summer and short week-long trips available. The requirement is 6 credits / 6 weeks cumulatively in your time as an undergrad.

My twins are in the exact same boat!!

How are some people already applying for scholarships while others haven’t even been admitted? My son should be a DA and we haven’t even heard yet! Frustrating.

One of my twins heard back a month ago and is reviewing the scholarship essay requirements. The other hasn’t heard back. They applied to different programs, but the one who heard back has a stronger application all around even though their test scores were similar.

Because equal and fair are two different concepts. Good for all prospective enrollees to learn that lesson now because perceived unfairness is a huge part of college. It is unequal people are applying now and others have not been admitted - it is not unfair.

If you applied by Nov 1 you will hear by Jan 15 - IU has never varied from that point. This should be no surprise.

Trust the Process. 18 days.

If a student manages to get into Hutton Honors through the petition process, does anyone know if they will be eligible to receive a Hutton Honors College Scholarship? Or are those primarily/exclusively awarded to students who qualify for direct admission?

Edit: Apologies
did not intend to reply to your specific (and unrelated) comment.

Shouldn’t you be DA with those stats?

Does anyone know if my son’s application status changing from pre-div to Business Undergraduate a week ago is a good sign? My son applied for finance at IU and is a direct admit to Kelley based on stats, but he has not yet received admission.

hope so!.. my son’s application still reads:

Program:
University Div Pre-Business
Plan:
Supply Chain Management BSB

1370 is the minimum for direct admit.

Hutton scholarships are part of GSA so everyone is eligible. Hutton money is typically extremely low, while every amount counts, this is on the very small side of aid. Most students in Hutton are receiving aid or considered for aid elsewhere - Honors is not where most colleges provide money. In fact lots of colleges require you to pay more to be part of Honors.

It is not a bad sign. It’s not an admissions input, admissions is the University. Based on the first batch of admissions which lasted around 10 days, IU should be starting to release sometime early next week (most likely Wednesday) over probably a close to another 10 day period.

Indian International, 1500 SAT, school does not calculate gpa

I got accepted to kelley as a BSB Exploratory student as I did not want to commit to a concentration this early. I was also awarded a global engagement scholarship of $10k/year. What is the procedure for selecting a concentration as a exploratory student?
Also, I received my admission and scholarship decision without uploading the IU essay or completing the scholarship app (i completed the essay today). Is that odd?
Also, should I expect an acceptance to Hutton honors?

just a slight correction here - the average GPA for a graduating senior is a 3.2-3.3. graduating senior here

does anyone know if they will release decisions today or this week?

Jeff speculated (thought more like “informed speculated”) that there will be another multi-day rolling drop of notifications beginning later this week and continuing until the 15th.

Anyone knows why my DD got an email for submitting review request when her stats are good for DA? Anyone else got the email?

I have a question about Admitted students day. I had assumed we would go to a Red carpet day, but she was just invited to a direct admit day for arts and sciences. Is one better than the other? We def won’t do both. Basically we are hoping to see her final schools to make final choice. Looking for the “sales pitch” and rah rah stuff, check out dorms, maybe meet some other kids. Less concerned about the details of advising, etc. Should we stay with plans for April red carpet day, or is it too generic? Thanks!

My son received it as well. He also has stats for DA so we are unclear about it as well. Perhaps it went to everyone?
