D24 applied 11/1/23 for Nursing direct admit EA and found out today (1/10/24) she was only accepted for pre-nursing. I’m not sure how many direct admit BSN students they selected overall or what percent of pre-nursing students are eventually accepted into the nursing program, but I’m guessing both numbers are small. Anyone out there receive direct admit?

Anyone has resources to make IU more affordable as an international student? External scholarships or even internal IU scholarships. I have filled the GSA, but I have heard nothing about the SSA so far…

Congratulations! My son is a sports mgmt major (at another school) and LOVES it! You are NOT in the wrong place, I get that Kelley is a big draw for IU but this is NOT a Kelley page. (mom of a communications major anxiously waiting a response…)

That’s SO exciting! Congrats! I would be happy for corny at this point!

yes, we got it too (OOS waiting for decision) I’ve seen on numerous sites that this is an automatic email–it does not have anything to do with an admittance.

Though if the email you got was the same as ours, the ā€œreply toā€ address is IUAdmit8@indiana.edu. Interesting…

This is so good to hear! My son wants to major in Sports Management. I’m hoping we get good news soon! :crossed_fingers:t2:

His freshman year GPA was low, which brought his cumulative GPA down, so I’m a bit worried. I know it will all work out in the end, but this is stressful!

Good morning! Does anyone know if IU bases admit decisions on weighted or unweighted gpa? I’m referring to general admits (ie history major/arts and sciences), not Kelley. My son’s weighted gpa appears to be competitive with previous years admissions, but his unweighted is a little lower than that. IU is one of his top picks so really hoping they base it on weighted and he has the best chance possiblešŸ™šŸ». This waiting game is rough, but I keep saying it’s worth the wait if we see the decision we are hoping for. Best of luck to everyone!

Neither. Weighted or Unweighted is only relevant for the direct admit programs at IU which is not just Kelley. All colleges including IU will recalculate your GPA to their apples to apples standards for admission purposes.

For just concept understanding for a Kelley student as this is a popular topic here but insert any DA program name - IU the university recalcs your GPA and admits you or not. Then DA school takes its standards which for Kelley is the higher of weighted or unweighted. This is also why scholarship programs like SSA may be provided to some not auto-DA but not to auto-DA - it is not based on the standards which may have admitted you. It is recalculated for that program or focus.

Jeff (or anyone): Curious if historically IU has delivered good news in waves and waited until the 11th hour to distribute deferrals or rejections? I realize the reports of admission are anecdotal, few will post rejections and this board is disproportionately high-stats families, but there seem to have only been reports of good news so far. Wondering if they save the negatives for the end or if if’s too anecdotal to extrapolate patterns. Thanks.

That’s what my daughter is thinking, but until you hear, you don’t know… :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Denials will mostly come from the regular decisions and even then there are not that many. With medical in Indy and engineering in Lafayette there’s not going to be the reports on these kind of forums on denials. Kelley specific denials is what you might read.

People who post denials on forums are mostly high stat kids looking for empathy in their denial. That’s not IU denials.

What do you mean by ā€œdenials will mostly come from the RDā€ā€¦does that mean EA is likely to be deferred to RD then denied? TIA

Thanks as always for your insight, context and color.

Wondering about this as well.

A very very high percentage of IU EA applicants are applicants to Kelley. Which is why this forum is so Kelley heavy right now. Many or most of those will have high stats and be admitted.

The student applying to IU on the potential denial line usually applies now for RD. It’s possible IU will deny or defer - but there just are not that many applying now on that line. With a school admitting 85% of applicants, there is not that much motivation to apply in October for most.

Thanks for this info! My son is not a Kelley applicant, but he did apply EA (early October) and we haven’t heard anything. I’ll admit, he has a lower GPA than many here, but he has a lot of ECs and a great LOR, so I’m hopeful, but also realistic that he may not get in. The waiting is SO hard!
