Indiana University - Bloomington Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

My portal still says applicant, but the program changed from University Div Pre-Business to Business Undergraduate.

does that mean anything??

Does your kid meet DA criteria?

yea, 3.89 unweighted and 34 act

We got the same. Is this partly yield protection? More hoops for the applicant to jump through to show they are interested. Meanwhile student who has other offers just accepts those? A thought…

Does anyone know about eventual admission changes for those who got a defer today?

It’s dependent upon the quality and quantity that they receive in the RD pool. We won’t know much until March. Intuitively and logically, the chances are still probably pretty good. Ultimately, if anyone was even slightly on the fence in terms of qualifications, the proper play for IU would be to defer.

In past years, a lot get in. (We are in state, so have seen a lot of kids eventually get in.) No idea how this year will be obviously.

Depends on if the 3.58 is Wtd (then the scale) or UW.

And then there’s other factors too.

Deferral isn’t rejection (which a Wait List is) so keep the faith. It’s a - we’ve yet to make a decision on you.

And if mid year grades are great, that could help!!

We just checked portal and it’s also a deferral. 3.5UW 1270 SAT lots of AP’s varsity golf and soccer etc. Clearly a borderline candidate so getting deferred is not a surprise. Make sure to check your portals as there was no email notification. Good luck to all of you.

Sorry to hear this! I am surprised so many applicants with 3.5 gpa are getting deferred. A few of IUB programs are direct admits with those stats (or close). For instance…School of Public Health and O’Neill school are direct admit with 3.5 gpa and 1280 SAT. College of Arts and Sciences is 3.5 gpa and 1240 SAT. It seems like 3.5 should at least get applicants into University Division. I’m guessing most are applying for business? As another poster mentioned, I think there is a good chance the application will eventually be approved down the road. Good luck!

all good. We can live with a deferral. Just delays the decision but there are other acceptances (College of Charleston, Michigan St) and still waiting on CU-Boulder, UNH, VT, JMU, Cincinnati and UCONN. Did not get main campus admission at Penn St or PITT. Indiana is near the top of his list so we were hoping for better news, but we will see. Thanks!

Question for anyone who knows about scholarships. I was admitted EA a few days ago, and have gotten emails about the general application and SSA. Are all scholarships application based, or are there any automatic scholarships? If there are automatic ones, where do I see if I’ve gotten any?

What program did he apply to? Sorry if I missed it.

There is merit for OOS called Deans Scholarship which comes with letter in mail. I think it ranges from $2k-$10k per year.

For those of us who are still waiting on a decision, do you believe that there will be some released this weekend or will the remainder all be released on Monday?

deleted - wrong thread

Has there been decisions sent out on the weekends before? Since Monday is a holiday (I’m not sure if they are closed), I was thinking we’d hear on Tuesday.

Economics. As close to Kelley as you can get w/o applying direct to Kelley. As part of being deferred I’m going to check if another major may improve his chances.

Hey MattPNJ - Son and I visited CU Boulder a few months ago… Leed’s School of Business candidate. We flew into Denver and did a self guided tour …had dinner on Pearl Street and then caught evening flight to school #2 of the weekend… it was a Friday before a Saturday FB game and the campus was spooling up with excitement. nice to see the students mingling on campus… the gen pop. seemed a bit more racially diverse than school #2…buildings and grounds were attractive and we glided through the Leeds building for a pulse check on the vibe… Son even had a summer camp friend attending UC at the time, so he was able to get a first hand look at a dorm…all good… another SoCAL friend of mine’s son attends Boulder as a Aerospace Engineering major… nothing but good reviews from all we’ve talked to. Good luck with the process. can add you to a photo album if interested in seeing the snaps… LMK… best regards!
