Indiana University - Bloomington Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

D24 just got waitlisted too. Moving on from IU…

I certainly appreciate the emotion of waitlists but until May 15 and you have to pay housing/enrollment a wait list today is just IU saying we picked an arbitrary date to answer you by (march 15) and cannot offer admission today. Had they chosen April 15 you would be waiting without an answer and that would be annoying (to me anyway).

I realize that a few post don’t necessarily make a pattern, but it sure looks like that all of the deferral movements from a few days ago were admits and today is entirely waitlists.

I wonder if they were all business majors? My daughter just checked and still nothing. She is psychology.

My son applied as a business major and was waitlisted today.

D24 was nursing. Waitlisted today.

My son was waitlisted today pre business

I posted this on another thread, but to those waitlisted who really want to go to IU, there is good news. The % of kids that were offered admission from the waitlist last year was exceptionally high - there were 1143 offered admission from the waitlist of 1317 (86%).

I’m not sure if Jeff has an opinion on this, but once the RD class is fully processed and the admissions office quiets down a bit, probably worth calling or sending an email saying that if admitted, you would attend (assuming it’s true).

Hold out hope - there’s a real shot!

Has anyone heard back on SSA yet? Just want to check if it is out, but I just didn’t get any (that is why no news for me), or everyone is still waiting for it. thank you.

@Anthonydisdain

Agree about waitlist moves.

And to share an example:

DD’s HS senior friends in Michigan are IU admits (across a few different majors, business & liberal arts).

They’re currently waiting to hear back from UMichigan — and say they’ll attend IU if they don’t receive a U of M acceptance.

Theres still time for acceptances - and for finding a roommate who’s “down to earth,” funny, and incredibly neat/organized

If neat/organized is a goal, they should stay away from my kid.

Have not heard anything. Wanted to go to the Direct Admit day next week but won’t waste the time and money if no more aid. IU is still out of reach financially being OOS with our current offer. Bright side, if we don’t get more, DD’s spot can go to someone on the waitlist!

My daughter is on her senior Disney trip. Totally not going to check. But will make sure to wear IU merch in every picture she posts.

I’m not doubting you, and I appreciate the info. But is this info published anywhere? My son (who just got waitlisted) is telling me that we need to move on from IU bc less than 5% of waitlisted kids get offered admission – but I have no idea where he’s getting that. I certainly hope you’re right and not him. And thanks again for the info.
