it is from the most recent Common Data Set.

Didnāt know about this. Thank you so much.
The waitlist acceptance from last year looks very encouraging but your son is correct, that you guys should move on. My son was waitlisted from Virginia Tech which is our state school and first choice because of cost and distance. In 2022 they offered 2,458 spots off waitlist. In 2023, NO kids were offered acceptances off waitlist. Who knows what the number will be this year.
We will be moving on to secure a spot at IU which was a close second choice for him. If he gets a spot at Virginia Tech and really wants to accept it then we will be out our deposits. But I am pretty certain IU is it for us, kids somehow always end up where they belong. Best of luck to you and your son!
Sorry for the slow response, but yes, itās from the Common Data Set. Itās reliable data.
Does anyone know how easy/hard it is to switch majors at IU? The waitlist email has an āAlternative Major Choiceā dropdown list. If my son picks an alternate choice now, gets admitted off the waitlist, but then wants to change at some point, is that pretty easy or not so much? Thanks for any guidance anyone can offer.
I wouldnāt go that far to call it reliable data. There were so many colleges where their Web site showed year-specific stats starkly different from the CDS. Also, a lot of times, you could look at the CDS data and realize some of the things just did not make any sense.
My conclusion at the end was that submitting the CDS was just a checklist item for the colleges without really any validation effort.
Has anyone been notified of GSA or SSA scholarship award today? Does anyone know how notification happens - email, in the portal, etc? Thank you!
Been checking the portal and seeing no updates. I donāt know how we are notified, though, if at all. We havenāt received anything.
My daughter said she thinks it will be via email, today. She is waiting for her scholarship award letter.
Certain majors require application and admission while other majors are easy to transfer into or out of since it is only based on a set number of completed classes related to that major. I know business requires an application and I believe music does as well. There is a section on IU website which outlines requirements by major and references whether a student needs to be accepted into the āprogramā.
Sorry, mistake.
At what time are we thinking all of the SSA emails/portal updates are finished and no news=no money?
Iām wondering the same. We havent heard anything yet.
Thereās one person on the Facebook pre t page that says her kid got SSA from O Neill. Thatās only one Iāve seen.
My daughter also waitlisted from Virginia Tech, her number one (my son is at VT). And looks like IU is her second. (or UDel or JMU?) Does your son have other schools on his list or is IU definitely the school? We went to Red Carpet, itās a beautiful campus, and she said she could see herself there.
Penn State and Ohio State are also at his top. Ohio State didnāt give us any $$ so I think that will have to come off the list, its just too expensive. And all business kids at Penn State start as Pre-Business even though he was admitted directly to their business school, I donāt see any reason to take that risk when he is a direct admit to Kelley. I think IU is itā¦or I hope!
Ok its after 6:30 so I guess weāll call it, a little bummed because that application was a lot of work for her and her recommender!
Iām surprised no one has posted receiving any $$ !
I saw one person in the Facebook post about SSA . Thatās it. No one else heard anything. Not sure if they just didnāt send today.
We had nothing other than the original direct admit and Deans scholarships in the financial aid section. Disheartening for sure.
