We weren’t counting on it, and I know they aren’t common, but I think I’m most surprised that no one in this thread reported getting one, and only 1 person on the Facebook group said their kid received something. Figured with all of the high-achieving students in these groups, there would have been a few. Oh well. At least my kid learned a lot about the topic they wrote their essay on
My kid’s friend was directly admitted to HHC and received information about an HHC scholarship in his university acceptance email back in November/early December, along with info about his Dean’s scholarship.
Maybe it was Hutton then…there was something (I thought SSA) my daughter refused to do but it was a few years ago. I know they didn’t use the recs on the common app for admission (back then anyway) so it was odd you couldn’t for the extra step.
This group isn’t really where SSA is focused and SSA is not really OOS focused. Most of the scholarships have very specific focus as any scholarship I were to endow if I had that kind of money. What SSA is not, and maybe IU does a poor job communicating this, is additional merit to very high achievers. It is additional aid to unicorns who fit the scholarship parameters.
FWIW, I just called the Scholarship office and was told that students DID receive notification on Friday of last week if they received additional merit $$. So no notification = no addtl merit (that is not financial need based).
My OOS S24 received the Hutton $ very soon after admittance in Jan (within a couple of days max)… so fast that it seemed like it was an automatic decision. However he was not asked to fill out the SSA- perhaps because he had already received the most $ (Dean’s + Hutton) that they were going to award to an OOS kid.
Did anyone else on waitlist just get an email saying to commit by May 15? Very confusing bc portal stills says waitlist. Assuming a glitch in email system
We got it too. Uh, it’s gonna be a little hard to walk this language back: “Welcome. Congratulations on your admission to Indiana University Bloomington!”
Hi, did anyone get an email last night from IU… Saying you’re in reserve a spot of the Fall Class of 2028? This is the 3rd email we have received from Indiana with a different answer. 1st was in the portal, application cancelled and we can not offer you a spot. Second email last week, guarnteed transfer for Spring 2025. Last night’s email was “IU said YES you’re in reserve your spot for fall”. What in the hell.
Yes, I got this email too, but only to my email. My daughter has received nothing. She also doesn’t even think she has a complete application because they kept telling her, her senior year math was insufficient so she had moved on to other applications. Seems to be a glitch
