Indiana University - Bloomington Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

DD enrolled at UTK a few weeks back. Many curriculum similarities to IU and with merit, like half the price. I am a true believer that college is what one makes of it. If child creates their story, learns to network well, and leads self and others along the way… the journey while in college and beyond, will be amazing! And you… any school choice yet?

Direct admit needed to apply by EA deadline, have 3.8 GPA (IU uses highest , often weighted) and 1370 SAT or 30 ACT.

A reminder that this thread is about IU. Please move conversation about other schools to the appropriate threads. Thank you!

What is the vanguard scholarship? Heard a few got it

My OOS daughter received the Kelley Vanguard Scholar notification today. $5,000 per year.

Was there any specific criteria ?

Did you get an email about it or did you see something in the portal?

I believe it’s 8/18 to 8/20… somewhere in that vicinity…

I just randomly checked my sons portal today and he was admitted off the waitlist.

After waiting since December, my son was admitted on Friday. Between our high school and IU, we had transcript issues. IU never updated that they received them and they did. Our Admissions Counselor was very poor with followup. We lucked out after speaking with a rep last week and she had it fixed within days. After all this waiting, my son is not even sure he wants to attend IU now, he’s considering another school after we had a college visit at a different school. The Admissions process became very dramatic and turned him off. He was 100% IU until another school caught his eye.

Very similar w my daughter-- We are from NY and visited in Spring 2023-- She applied EA in October-- by the time they got to her on 3/30 (a deferral and a waitlist on 3/13-- and worse, a mistaken admission email on 3/18) she decided to go in another direction. She chose a school that really communicated they liked her, engaged with her, sent her information regularly. It was very clear that IU is too big and too busy to give her the time of day-- And shes an OOS who would pay OOS tuition. Oh well.

Ditto. My son was 100% IU with a brother a recent grad. His application was complete 9/18 accepted off waitlist on 3/13. Such a long process this year. When waitlisted visited other top choices and committed elsewhere.
Guess everything happens for a reason. Think IU might be missing some great students. They need to work out kinks. They seemed to accept student early this year in my area that would never go there. But maybe that always happens.

We had a similar situation occur. He ended up going to the school that showed him the most love and could not be happier!!!

Trying to have some feedback about culture at Kelly. Is it competitive / cut throat or collaborative.
How would you compare it with Perdue Business school culture ? Please let me know if anyone has any feedback.

ive heard pretty competitive vibe with students competing with each other–but again, this is just what i have heard…so take it for what it is worth. I am not familiar with Purdue environment for business.

Great, daughters in too. But it doesn’t list the class she was accepted to, which is odd

Great! I think the email said they would tell them the course in early June? Hopefully, that will be before NSOs start (we are going on June 10-11) so they can take it into account for class registrations.

If we did not get any emails from Hutton Honors by now does it mean we did not get in and not qualified for any Hutton scholarships? 1530 SAT and 4.18 GPA. Will IU tell us one way or the other that we did not make it to Hutton and/or no scholarships.
