Indiana University Bloomington Early Action for Fall 2025 Admission

No downside. Usually private high schools have no problem including a weighted gpa and he can see if that is possible and avoid a petition.

Hi all. Confused on whether IU is rolling or if they release batches on 12/15 and 1/15. Can anyone clarify.

Thanks – high school does not weight GPAs, unfortunately (not sure why not)

Then follow @jefrobertson advice. No harm in petitioning with a good essay focusing on business ecs.

Thanks for the advice and positive feedback!

Neither

I think it’s not rolling but it will release decisions between mid Dec to mid Jan.

Last year the did a big batch of acceptances at the end of November. Is there a reason to think they won’t do that again this year?

My son heard 2 years ago yesterday. But this year they said wanted to move away from that and release on specific dates

Last year they moved away from “Rolling” and waited post Nov 1. Last year they intended to release batches in December and January but released a batch in late November because it was the first year of the transition and they felt necessary to bridge it. This year they specifically added “On or before December 15” to try and meet that December batch goal - if you write it it seems more serious. This is in part to align Kelley petition answers which is one of the biggest University Admission Drivers especially EA. They will probably fail on this alignment, but they are trying. Most probable is first batch will begin to roll out around December 10/11th and will include a lot of higher stat and auto-direct admits to the various IUB programs. It remains possible they will again be ready to send out a late Nov batch this week, I doubt they do it next week with the Holiday and they usually use the last 2 weeks of December on admissions not releasing admissions. It would be unlike IUB to release on a Sunday (Dec 15). You generally want to give admissions a few days to cool off because they start calling/emailing/visiting if did not get an answer or not the answer the student wanted. It’s disruptive. But also things change and we’ll see.

My daughter’s portal shows a high school transcript uploaded on 11/14
but she applied EA and they had her transcript and everything they needed by early October. Her portal showed her application as complete. Now this transcript thing popped up. She didn’t submit any additional grades or transcripts. Wonder what this means??

Ok cool thanks for the replies. the phrasing is confusing with “on or before Dec 15

 but also January.”

Wondering if my S25 will be notified of acceptance to IU if he still needs to audition for their music school. Does anyone know?

Yes. See my reply to you in the music forum for more detail:).

Does her school sent first quarter grades? Our high school will send them if the student approves it. For my son, it shows his initial transcript uploaded on 10/14 and then another official transcript uploaded on 11/12 which is when his HS counselor submitted his Q1 grades. It looks the same in his CommonApp. I would have your daughter ask her high school counselor.

Just to update, our portal was finally updated today and shows transcript uploaded (11/20) with application status as completed. It took about 5 weeks (high school sent transcript 10/16). According to AO’s email they go by when the transcript was sent not when the transcript was uploaded to portal, so this should not impact EA/Kelley direct admin status. fingers crossed decisions come out soon, the waiting is tough

She had to fill out a form to send them and didn’t fill it out. None of the other schools have an updated transcript listed in the portals. Weird.

Just double checking. My D25 already submitted her application in mid Oct (for EA, direct admit to Kelley School). But up to now, it is still showing that essay is required. She applied through the common app, so she did the 650-word common app essay instead. I don’t see any prompt for a supplemental essay in the common app. Am I missing something? Also, her SAT scores are shown in the common app and it should fulfill the direct admit requirement. Yet, the Atlas portal seems to indicate that they haven’t got the scores. Puzzling! Any idea? Thanks.

Have her call and ask.

My son did not apply to Kelley so might not be totally apples to apples but his portal doesn’t say anything about an essay (is there a Kelley direct admit essay required?). At the top of the screen, under the photo and the “Welcome” it says " Current Status: Application Complete" What does your daughter’s say?

The only thing under his “checklist” was a received official high school transcript and his Hutton Honors College Application. It also shows several items were uploaded (in the gray box): transcript, two rec letters and a first quarter grade report submitted by his high school. If I scroll down further, on the left hand side under “Your Application Details” it says “Include Test Scores in Review” under the “Test-Optional” header but there are no test scores. IU allows for self reporting so I am going to assume that what he entered in the Common App is sufficient. However I did just notice, on the lower right hand side a link to “Self Report Test Scores” which takes me to an online form. Not sure if he needs to fill that out or not.

Not sure that this was helpful but just wanted to share what I am seeing on my son’s portal. And calling just to double check as recommended by @tsbna44 suggested is never a bad thing.
