Not a concern, when they get to that point they’ll raise the auto-DA stats, and that is definitely coming. What it actually does is seriously limit the number of petition spots. If such a hypothetical as you raise occurred they’d figure it out at Kelley and adjust in the next classes - the real challenge would be the University housing. For what you note to actually happen in real life they’d need around double the current apps and/or a 100% increase in their enrollment acceptance increase. Which is a real good problem to have. But as Kelley and IUB don’t give much money - that’s probably not happening with the very high stat crew who can often get money at privates or lower ranked schools.
Has anyone heard from IU? sounds like it could be this week.
It looks like they may have changed the first response date. My son logged into the account to check status and it now says If you submitted a complete application by November 1, you will receive a response by January 15. It definitely said December 15 before.

Nope. My daughter’s portal also changed to say Jan 15. Stinks because last year decisions started to roll out the Monday after Thanksgiving. We really wanted to be able to get her some college gear for Christmas so was hoping we would hear something by now.
I thought it always said “by Jan 15” in the app portal - but it says “maybe Dec 15/definitely Jan 15” on this page. So who knows!
Mine always said “by Jan 15”.
My son’s portal has always shown 1/15 but on Computing Account it does post the link shared above where it still has the 12/15 date.
You were never going to hear anything before now.
They are trying to get some out this week, but as soon as they release some everyone else starts calling Admissions and asking which is highly disruptive. The portal change is because if you don’t hear by this week you don’t call and email and say the portal said could hear by Dec 15 - where is my answer or even more often - may name is X can you tell me when I will hear? They want to reply to that email automatically - “you will hear by January 15 see the portal.”
Direct Admit days for Kelley are March 8 and March 29 - this is 25% of the IU incoming frosh - they would like direct auto admits to Kelley to have time to plan that visit and have that in the admit letter - and its no coincidence they’ve issued those dates now.
@jefrorobertson Your posts on this IU page have been incredibly helpful. For nursing, there appears to be a possible direct admit path, but it also appears that you first have to be accepted to IU as pre-nursing, and then they will invite some applicants to apply for the direct admit path after acceptance. Any idea when nursing students may start to receive that initial acceptance? If not until January and then they still need to apply for the direct admit, we are all going to likely be deep into the spring before we really have an answer. That seems late when we expect to know about all of the others no later than January.
Should the petition for Kelly be filed now or wait until admission decision? We don’t meet the requirements (went TO).
Thanks for this and I am hoping that based on your response…. perhaps that those of us who don’t have kids applying to Kelley or any special direct admit program (minority in this thread), they are the ones that could be in the group that starts hearing back this week?
The individual colleges do not have any influence on the general IUB admissions. It’s just a question of who is your AO and whether they have completed the review. AOs are not assigned by college of app - it’s regional.
First the minority in the thread is usually because the issues are simpler so less discussion. Second to your question - Those who hear this week, if any hear at all, will be those whose AOs completed the review; it’s that simple. There is always a bit of a preference for high stat in state kids on answers because they’ll start recruiting those kids with scholarships. Kelley direct auto admits usually will have an earlier/high % of the early answers because many are very high stat so it’s clear and easy they’ll be admitted for their IUB AO.
I speculate that because of competitive reasons (purdue releasing Jan 15), they will release some decisions this month.
Emory just posted Dec 11 after 6 pm
Absolutely do it now. They’ll look once admitted so want it done ASAP
Clemson just released they’ll announce December 12th
Anyone else’s portal still show that the school transcript is missing? The high school counselor submitted with timestamp in early October. Everything is showing up as received except the transcript. The counselor called IU and they just said if the school sent it in, then they have it, but didn’t clarify if they actually have it in hand. I’m scared this will delay the EA decision which is frustrating. What are the chances they process the application anyway without having the portal say they “received it”. Makes me also a little nervous as if the college doesn’t have great organizational skills, what else is not going to go smoothly.
My son’s portal still shows that his transcript is missing. I called admissions, and they confirmed that the transcript has been received but has not yet been uploaded to the portal. I’m also hoping everything is okay
