Honestly - holistic - that’s not what pretty much any college is about anymore. It’s a business. Even the tippy top. Not to say that AOs aren’t taking holistic seriously - but what a college cares about is you attend, you pay tuition and you stay 4 years. It’s really expensive to backfill spots when people leave. It’s really expensive to have unused facilities when people are not there in the first place. And why is the SAT back in vogue - because it’s one of the biggest predictors of staying. GPA is the least relevant part for Kelley - they have it because it has some predictive value and a data point. And those who don’t meet it - 2 transcripts, UWGPA schools etc… are acceptable losses as long as Kelley fills. For other colleges, maybe someone with a 1200 SAT but amazing academic success is what they are willing to sacrifice. Just the game.
Thanks. I wonder if my son’s is different, and doesn’t have the release timeline, because his transcript hasn’t been added yet.
UW can’t measure rigor.
It’s an easier school than many other to get into yet with a better reputation it works for them.
Not saying it’s fair (or not) but the criteria is easy to see.
Like the college football playoffs - some think an easier schedule is better.
This is very true. Rigor should matter, not all 4.0s are equal. All colleges (especially large colleges) should reweight grades based on predetermined, published methodology.
Do we still think that the first batch will roll out 12/11-12? Or maybe this Friday? What time have the decisions come during the day in the past? Thanks.
IF it happens I’d expect it to be Thursday afternoon/evening.
My daughter received her early action decision today ![]()
Was she notified of an update by email or did she just happen to log into her portal?
She was sent an acceptance email and it is on her portal as well.
Congratulations! Just checked in with my DS and nothing yet.
Congratulations. In-state of out?
In-state
4.1 UW gpa, 1270 Sat, business exploratory
My In-State son got his decision today too - yay! He did get an email to alert him.
Curious if they tend to notify in-state applicants first, if anyone knows? Daughter (out of state) anxiously awaiting decision.
My son oos just got received acceptance and direct Kelly admit
If your kiddo received acceptance, did any merit information also come in or does that come separately? Just wondering so I can set expectations.
Did the portal change? Or just the email?
Editing/Deleting as this posted twice - sorry!
