Indiana University Bloomington Early Action for Fall 2025 Admission

Hi, I have a general question about IU Kelley. If I pass the direct admit criteria, does that mean I am almost guaranteed to get in?

It’s very clear cut on how to get direct entry to Kelley. Here is the information from their website. If you meet this criteria, you are guaranteed direct admission.

Anyone able to set up a portal yet?

Not yet.

Looking back at Firstonegoing’s post from 5D ago
it sayd that “most” didn’t receive a portal link. I wonder if it is impacting certain colleges, or something else or totally random. Plus, if it wasn’t everyone, how would they know which applicants were impacted?

I called today (9/10). They said they don’t know when the emails will go out with the portal info. They are hoping they go out a couple weeks from now.

My daughter has a supplemental app for her major that needs to be completed that she needs the portal for. She was hoping to get all of these applications and supplementals done before her sport starts
but guess that isn’t going to happen.

Wondering about test optional or with scores? Do you self report scores for the IU application and then only send in after acceptance? I believe Purdue is like this? Also do they superscore? My daughter is trying to decide if her score would weaken her application? She has a 1430 superscore. Thanks for any input!

What major? Either way, I’d submit a 1430 to Indiana.

Wow. I wonder if they’ll start reviewing before that or if this will impact their decision timeline. My son wants to apply to the Honors College and needs the portal.

Mine needs both the honors app and the direct admit nursing supplemental app.

Any chance they’ll give her the questions, etc, that she needs for Nursing before that? So at least she could work on it? Seems like something with which they should be trying to help.

She is hoping for CS
either BS (preferably) or BA. She really isn’t the greatest at standardized testing and doesn’t want to do it again. She was hoping for some merit though and 1430 isn’t very “merit worthy”. Her/GPA and class rigor speak more about her as a student than the score that’s why we are unsure
Does IU self report scroes and you send it in after admission? THANKS so much!

You can self report the scores before admissions and send official if you enroll (I assume). Have you seen this?
Average range GPA and test scores for Fall 2024 admitted Luddy students|Admissions |Range|Average|Median|
|GPA|3.65-3.99|3.80|3.95|
|SAT scores|1290-1460|1375|1400|

Not sure how that plays out for merit scholarships but my feeling is that anything about 1400 is merit-worthy at IU. They don’t give a ton of merit, though, from what I understand. I’m no expert on IU though  Thought I’d like this
Cost, Financial Aid, & Scholarships: Admissions: Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering: Indiana University Bloomington

Hopefully, someone more experienced will chime in.

This is aweome! Thanks so much! Just still wondering about submitting that 1430 since it is only a super score. I suppose she doesn’t have much to lose, as you mentioned the scholarships seem pretty small anyway, but that list is great! THANKS A MILLION!

Most colleges including IU will give you an assumed score if you don’t submit not ignore it as it may seem especially for merit. Superscore at IU will be irrelevant vs any 1 test combined score. The application questions rarely change so whatever 2023 was is probably the 2024 question/statement for the supplemental app. If you are OOS merit will be an algorithm of your GPA/rigor/test (or assumed score). Changes year to year based on what they offered year prior and who that amount brought in on quality of student, but in most cases will not be more than 10ishK. Go Hoosiers.

My S25 is applying EA for the Cybersecurity & Global Policy BS program. After learning about it here, he really likes the idea of it. We’ll be visiting in November.

3.74 GPA uw, 4.43 GPA w(out of 5.5), 11 Honors classess and 3 APs by the time he graduates, National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society. Lots of ECs mostly focused on hockey, playing travel and HS, volunteering as a hockey coach for special needs kids, local political campaign volunteer, selected as a youth ambassador for our local nhl hockey team volunteering in our local communicty in different capacities (food banks, senior centers, etc.).

Might be applying test-optional, last score was 1120 (I know
), but will take again in 3 weeks ater 2 months straight of tutoring for both math and reading. Expects a much better score, but I guess we’ll see. Thoughts?

Glad I checked this thread! S25 applied this weekend and was wondering why Indiana was the only university that didn’t send an email to set up the portal yet. He was worried that he had messed something up.

GPA 3.8 u/w, 4.8 w. 1490 SAT. 9 AP classes. Wants to major in Math.

Same here! Similar profile also! From what I understand you can only apply to the HC after you get the portal info. Lets hope HC deadline isn’t Nov 1. My daughter is very busy in the IB program now and she wanted to get it all done early. I hope it is soon!

I’m glad you brought up TO! My daughter just applied and was on the fence about submitting scores or not. She decided to do it and just self-reported on the Common App. She is all signed up for October 5th and really feels like she can do better. Her computer bugged out last time and she had to restart another computer and get logged in and lost at least 5 minutes. I saw something really cool for IU. You can also self report new scores with a form if you get higher on a subsequent test
AND you can even change your decision on testing once the portal opens. https://iuusssad-fireform.eas.iu.edu/online/form/index/IUBLASelfRep

Any idea how to find last year’s questions? A Google search didn’t help.
Thanks!
