Indiana University Bloomington Early Action for Fall 2025 Admission

Thanks for the clarification!

@DTC29 not this year. In the virtual session they clearly mentioned they will start reviewing only after Feb 1st and “hopefully” start releasing decisions from Feb 15th.
Also, in their own words: there is no incentive to petition in Oct/Nov Vs Jan, as they will not review them in any particular order.
All in all, I believe they will filter most of their admitted class through Auto DAs. For the rest they may just pick the Top GPAs/Scores who didnt qualify due to being TO etc. The essays are an eye-wash; they wont have time for “holistic” reviews.

Got it! Seems like they’re doing things different This year all around. My son is Kelley, admitted in 23. My daughter applying this year but different major.

All the best, my friend.

People reporting not getting an email, but getting portal updates indicate IU is having issues with their portal and software this year. Lot of people also reporting that checklist items are not properly updated as well. So have patience.

My question is what if your kid applied to both majors (first and alternative) in Kelly. If they aren’t admitted to Kelly, they wouldn’t be offered just general Indiana U admission either, correct? I just discovered this. I thought he put economics as a second major, but he didn’t.

Doesn’t matter what you listed - you get admitted to IUB first. Kelley second. Will be pre-business until admission to Kelley.

I’m curious as to why you say this. Is it just your opinion as a parent who attended the information session?

They aren’t doing anything different than last year in admissions but very different from 2023. Only change from last year was they did not use Dec 15 as written target (was an internal target) and were ready late Nov. Scholarships and Hutton is very different this year from last year.

May I ask how Hutton and scholarships are different?

@jefrobertson they are doing Kelly reviews as well differently this year. My D25 attended Meet Kelly this summer and then had several follow up virtual sessions since then. They clearly called out that they will not be reviewing any petitions before the deadline of Feb 1st no matter when you submit it. Sounds like they started reviewing and releasing the Kelley decisions sooner last year (I am not sure of that), but if they didnt then the process this year is expected to be different
not my opinion, I am just stating what Kelley folks mentioned to all parents.

What will actually happen is Kelley will admit very few early, will deny a decent % and wait list a bunch. Most will hear in April. The single biggest factor is how many Auto DAs attend direct admit days. That gives Kelley a strong indication of how many petition room they have. Odds of hearing on petition prior to DA days is very very low. There is no hurry to submit but also not a lot of reason to wait.

The only part which is my “strong” opinion here is that you can expect very limited Kelly petition spots this year, if any. Rest are facts stated by Kelly folks during our in-person as well as virtual sessions.

Its not different.

Probably. I have no inside intel on how Kelley admissions work. I absolutely hate their criteria of Auto Admits, but that’s for later.
All I can say is that Kelly team told us to expect review results starting Feb 15th to mid of March (no speculations on my part here, plain simple what was told to us)

Hutton had auto stat admit and auto review which led people to enroll in Hutton and drop especially Kelley students. So they want effort to be in Hutton and stay and value it. Honors in college is very different from high school. Scholarship was a multi prong process called SSA and GSA and was wildly confusing and belief of strong merit coming which was not true and then disappointment/non-enrollment.

Clearly, you know more. As I said, I am just repeating what was told to us for this year. I have not combed through past years threads, so cant say if it’s same or different.

Mid October.

I doubt I know more its not a competition. Im only telling you what Kelley speak means. Take it for what its worth. Wait list to Kelley means decision and means petition success because it doesn’t mean petition rejected. That is what will happen in midFeb to March until after DA days.

If you have stats for direct admit, can you still be rejected? (SAT 1500+ and 4.0 GPA) I am so confused on how that works.
Also will merit be granted now without having to apply separately?
