Congratulations! May I ask if you are a international student?
It doesnāt sound like anyone got merit yet with their admit notice. Is there a separate application for merit scholarships?
It will be in an email and regular mail letter - right now people are seeing admit in portal. We havenāt even reached the IU admit swag is disappointing complaining stage of admission yet. Exciting times ahead.
Yesterday evening S25 received an email with status update. DA to Kelley and he was very excited. IU Kelley is one of his top choice. Is the next step to set up an account and apply for scholarships? He also submitted his Hutton application in early November.
Are all waiver requests determined after Feb? My son was one of those 3.79 GPA with 1450 SAT cases so he applied 11/1 and did the waiver request 11/15. He got admitted as pre-business. Does that mean his DA waiver was rejected?
No, heās just not an Auto Admit. They have not reviewed his petition yet.
D25 was accepted this morningā¦email came around 9:20am, DA to Kelley, OOS-Virginia, applied 10/19.
deleted. didnāt mean to reply here
Pre-business means heās not a direct admit yet. Once they review the petition, depending on the outcome it can change to business or will remain as-is.
More acceptances coming out this morning. S25 got his DA to Kelley (woo hoo). He is in-state (Hamilton County) and applied 10/21. Lots from his school received decisions today for various majors (some still waiting). FYI ā still no email from the school, he just kept checking his portal.
Son heard yesterday evening. Email came in around 630pm Eastern time. Direct Admit to the School of Education. We are OOS. Applied 10/15 with test scores. Also applied to Hutton but I know that decision doesnāt come out until mid-Feb.
@jefrobertson Can you clarify what you meant about getting merit? If nothing was with his initial admit letter, then we should assume very little if anything is coming later? The IU website is not super clear about this so appreciate your knowledge.
Congrats to everyone who has heard so far and good luck to those still waiting.
I can tell you our experience last year with D24. She was accepted to IU in December via email/portal. No info on $$ at that time. She received an official letter in the mail later (probably Jan/Feb?) with a lovely and unexpected small merit scholarship indicated (we are in-state). She did not apply for any addāl scholarships (she eventually chose an OOS school anyway). I do often hear that IU doesnāt give much $$ overall.
Most public schools are stingy with merit for in-state students and selectively offer merit to OOS students to manage yield and attract strong students.
Correct chain of events in the first reply. The email right now is not an admit letter, itās an admission notification. There will be the official admit letter - maybe itās also delivered via email - that will include the merit if any - far more targeted to OOS students, the instate has itās own merit concept with small GPA driven amount on admission but more opps for scholies overall later instate. This is also the drill at most large publics. Max OOS IUB merit expectation should be around 15% of total cost. That doesnāt mean everyone gets that or nobody gets more. Lots of great high schools in Hamilton County!!
Ugh worried about my DD who should be DA to Kelley has not heard anything whereas others in her school have⦠Oops sorry jefrobertson! Didnāt realize I was replying directly to you!
AOs randomize the apps and not everyone hears from every school or region. Nothing to worry about. Itās great to hear early but its a batch. And its why they are moving to one date in the next couple of years - the benefit of those hearing early vs the unnecessary but understandable worry of those who do not. And itās still Friday.
Personally Iām a fan of schools letting people know as soon as a decision is made. My son has not heard yet but he did hear on the early side from Penn St. These boards are extremely helpful in many different ways to a lot of people but obviously cause some to be very anxious during batch rollouts.
Same here!!
My son just got admitted - direct admit to Kelley - OOS - from MD. 3.4 uw, 4.03 w, 33 ACT.
Thank you.
