For those admitted, my son has received emails asking him to set up his IU computing account and email. He has done with but is completely stuck on where to “check” his new email? He got into the One.IU account and sees all the tabs but not sure where to go from there? And if he is supposed to be checking his new IU email? As it is a Saturday/Holiday break, thought we would ask here.
My son already set up his IU Computing account. We think the IU email provided is used to login to apply for Scholarships and housing info but not to check IU emails until you enroll to IU. Any communications would probably go through your regular email account /IU portal for now.
Does anyone know when the next round of acceptances will be sent? I’m very confused because my son applied in August and we sent transcripts right away. It shows both the app essay and transcripts everything downloaded to portal in August… However, it also shows both the app essay and transcripts downloaded again 11/5?? Portal says app complete. Oneiu says check to-do list because it’s incomplete. But, there is nothing on the to-do list. I did call admissions when the initial round came out and they said everything was in on time, and thought maybe oneiu saying incomplete was because he didn’t apply for Hutton after he received the invite, but that shouldn’t effect him getting ED. Then a few days later I saw online that an AO said the earlier apps received earlier decisions which makes that extra 11/5 date in the portal kind of make me nervous even though it also says complete in August, since 11/5 puts it past the 11/1 deadline. So, I just don’t know if I should call again or what to do? Anyone or @jefrobertson have any insight or suggestions? Thanks!
It’s very confusing to us too. Same situation. We are just waiting to see what comes next.
There’s a general scholarship application in the One.IU portal. My daughter has not been admitted but we can access this application. Does she fill it out now or wait?
What kind of stats does your son have?
3.95 GPA, Honor’s Courses, AP, loads of extra curriculars, multiple sport varsity athlete, tons of leadership roles and was a Lily Finalist.
He can access his IU email account by clicking on “Exchange Online”, which should be on the first row where all other icons are available. D25 received IU scholarship application submission confirmation via IU email. Better to check IU Email once in every week or so, just in case.
My daughter submitted her application for EA on 9/24. Official transcripts were sent from high school on 9/25. Everything was downloaded by the college on 9/25 as well. However, it shows that her transcripts were dowloaded again on 11/19 and 11/27, which leads me to believe they might pull them at different steps of process to check for updates. She received her acceptance letter on December 11th and her scholarship letter on December 23rd. With all of that said… it still shows in her IU account that she does not have any applications at this time.
Thank you for your info. That makes me feel much better about the extra downloads not meaning it will delay an acceptance. Let’s hope my son hears something this week or next. He applied in August.
Same, even for my D25 the One IU portal shows no application. Are some people able to see their application in the One IU portal?
We only see it in the application status portal.
4.0/4.6 GPA. 9 APs. 33 ACT.
same here . One IU portal still says no application. Applied mid Oct. Almost close to deadline now
S25 actually submitted the application on Sep 30, Transcript was sent by school on Oct 18, it took a month to show up on Portal as Nov21. We emailed the admissions and they did confirm it was received on time for Nov1 deadline but delays in uploading. I must say, IU admission process experience has been the worst for us. I don’t know why they can’t get this simple process more streamlined like other universities. There s also no order of approval/deny of admission decisions too making it even worse. At this point, my kid has moved on from IU… he is not a direct admit to Kelley but has submitted the review petition in early Oct. He actually had a 30min zoom interview with a Kelley School AO who encouraged him to submit the petition. The process seems to be too long for those who don’t meet the direct admission criteria. A Kelley direct accept or reject at the same time of IU admit or reject is a better process.
Agree. The IU process is by far the worst we have experienced with two kids and it actually starting to turn my son off from IU, which is unfortunate. All information was sent in by October 1. His transcript was finally updated on Dec 7 after he called again. His AO said he would still be considered for EA but we’ll see. He’s got in at UofSC, Clemson and Penn St. All had about the same number applications, if not more, and their portals were updated within days (at most).
Some have mentioned it might be due to stats but he has a 4.0 and 35 ACT so a direct admit to Kelley.
My guess is by next year IU will have one release date like most other large universities, and that they are successfully, slowly moving away from rolling admissions, which unfortunately now is associated with the feeling that a school is less selective. However, Penn State seems to release randomly and quietly and applicants seem okay with this, so PSU is still pulling this off successfully! To be fair, Indiana has been clear from the beginning about release dates! My child is in the group that is still anxiously awaiting a decision though and many of her friends have heard from IU! Hopefully any day! IU Kelley is a top choice, but now scrambling a bit to get off more apps by the January and Feb deadlines just in case!
I personally have no issue with rolling or batch releases and actually prefer it but IU’s portal is a mess. You don’t know what’s going on. How can a transcript not be updated for 10 plus weeks? Other schools seem to have a method to the rolling or batch releases. South Carolina sent a letter explaining their process. IU just seems all over the place.
Agree the process is a bit of a mess. We too submitted our application back the first week of October. (Midwest oos). They did not show transcript received until the second week of December after a couple reach-outs from school counselor and our child. We still have not heard back while others who have submitted later, with lower stats have. Makes us wonder if registering for classes/housing will be just as challenging and disorganized. Ugh. Anybody think they release some today since it’s Friday, or maybe the college is still on break.
To all of these concerns and not to the reply specific - the fault of a transcript is almost always from the sender. There are a ton of recent competitors to Naviance which also makes this hard when receiving 50k transcripts at once. IU is revising their portal - some schools have one set up - it’s just reality.
The feelings emoted with others hearing and not you and why is because there is not a reason. It’s just how the randomized apps get through the process. It’s going to be unhelpful mentally to try to find answers where none exist. It is random.
Registering for classes and housing will be very difficult because its capacity constrained not because the process is hard. But if you apply on time it works out - what doesn’t work out is getting what you want in dorm choice or classes. If this isn’t for you - don’t attend a big public Big10 school they are all like this.
They said Jan 15 - it’s not Jan 15, everyone find a positive. If you don’t like IU anymore because you don’t feel loved, it’s ok, you’ll still go to college and IU will still be an excellent school. They don’t care about your Stats, they don’t care about you at all individually. It’s not personal.
I doubt you hear before Jan 9. But if they are ready early next week they’ll go. Like many of you - AOs were out and they are getting back. In a time where a lot of high school kids visit campus. The next batch will be the final batch in all intent.
As unbiased as I can try to be - this isn’t a mess. If you believe this is a mess you have no idea what a college admission mess can be for some kids. Try FAFSA last year for example. You have good problems relatively. Go Hoosiers.
Well said. As much as I personally disagree with the Kelley Auto DA process, I will not say that the IU admission process is broken. They have one of the most transparent and simple admission process.
It beats me when I see parents whose kid qualify for Auto DA, still complain about the “delay”?
Seriously? Your admission is guaranteed to one of the top business undergrad program, and you still find issues with minor system glitches? For the most part this probably isnt even your top-choice.
