Indiana University Bloomington Early Action for Fall 2025 Admission

We disagree and that’s fine. I see it more than a “minor systems glitch” but that’s me. My son should not have keep confirming IU received his transcript at every deadline. That’s just my opinion.

some of these issues can be nerve-wracking… and I’m no one to judge the anxiety they can induce. I’m sorry for sounding insensitive on that part… I’m very positive your son will hear a positive decision despite all this.
Trust me when I say this, (barring a few) most of the big public schools are challenged in streamlining the admissions process. It sort of evens out a bit for most folks. For instance, many heard super early in PSU, but left out waiting at IU and vice versa. And then there’s a section which heard super early from both, while yet another that suffered at both. It becomes easy for those who hear timely decisions to preach patience to the rest.

I understand your overall insights on IU and your advice to others. However, it is also very clear that IU and its reputed Business program could have done more in admission process. Just as universities evaluate applicants holistically to make a decision, students/parents all evaluate various aspects of this entire process in their final decision making. Universities big and small did not have this type of disconnect and lag in receiving documents. Naviance and other systems are not the culprit here, it is IU internal process. We got repeated reminders to send the transcript for weeks after it was sent and had to check with our school counsellor twice to confirm it. This was not an issue with any other university and definitely not for so many applicants. At the end, they charge applicants a fee and if the process is glitchy, it is best they make more efforts to correct it. As a OOS parent without much first hand knowledge of the state and university, admission process is a critical first impression and IU did not make a good impression. EA applicants to Kelley school did not have to wait till end of Feb for their petitions to be reviewed. MSU also does something similar for Business school and I am also not a fan of that process. Accept, defer or deny at the same time of IU decision. Regardless, if my kid gets admitted to Kelley following petition review, i would prefer him joining IU. If not, there are better choices for him. All the best to everyone still waiting and making decisions.

Has anyone received a paper acceptance letter in the mail yet? My daughters portal was updated several weeks ago and I expected something to come in the mail but nothing yet.

We are in the same boat - nothing yet via mail but he received acceptance the first day they released them. I believe I saw somewhere that it could take a couple of weeks.

Look at you finding the positive that if kid gets into Kelley you prefer they attend. There’s a silver lining everywhere. Go Hoosiers.

We are planning on attending the Kelley Direct Admit Day on March 7-8. However, there seems to be very little hotel availability remaining. Does anybody have any advice?

For an applicant who’s already visited Kelley or attended MEET Kelley, is there value in attending Kelley DA day?

Had same experience. Was told it is because last basketball home game of season is same weekend. We wound up booking a hotel a short drive from campus. Holiday Inn, Towne Place and Fairfield Inn all in one area.

Have people been able to successfully sign up for Kelley DA day? Our son just tried and it didn’t let him. He was accepted to Kelley kind of a while ago. He wants the late March date.

Google Kelley direct admit day and rsvp with the student 10 digit university ID number and last name. The University ID is found on the student portal.

He did that and found the page. When he tried to register it gave him an error. I’ll tell him to call the number on the page.

Good to know! My daughter hasn’t heard back yet. 4.0/4.8, 11AP total, 7 tests - all 5’s, and a 35 ACT, 36 Super. 3 sport varsity athlete and tons of community service, job, and internship at fortune 100. Maybe has to do with major?

My student is a current sophomore. During her application process - we had visited campus once for a tour before applying, second after being accepted to a date that invited Kelley admits to visit (help them make the decision…which I think was February). AND… third, we attended a Direct Admit Day. Each visit was a good experience. However, in hindsight, they weren’t all necessary - mostly because my student was already committed to her decision to attend. If you aren’t sure - maybe an extra visit would be important. My advice is - do whatever is reasonable for your calendar and budget. It’s a beautiful & exciting campus to visit. However - If you miss Direct admit day… it will not make or break your college experience. High School Senior year can be very busy. Decide what is best for your student. But don’t get too wrapped up with FOMO. Back in 2023, students also needed to attend an in-person orientation on campus during the summer. If that is still the practice - you’ll be visiting campus another date sometime in June/July.

Thank you so much. This is exactly what I needed to hear.

DA days are beyond just Kelley, but for purposes of Kelley the single biggest benefit IMO to Kelley DA days are to understand the sheer size of Kelley which you do not get from MEET Kelley or a tour. If you find 2k people in an auditorium all wondering how to get into the IB seminar overwhelming it may not be the best choice. If you find it energizing - it’s probably a great choice. Getting a slightly better visual of the JLLC is also worthwhile. The rest - meh, worthwhile but nothing new.

OOS Daughter is registered for Mar 8 Kelley DA day. Was your son able to register?

It really doesn’t look they will release anything else until the 15th.

Did you speak to someone who gave you this info, or are you just making an assumption since you didn’t hear today?

Somebody up thread somewhere mentioned it. I was hoping they were wrong.
