Indiana University Bloomington Early Action for Fall 2025 Admission

@bouders Congratulations! My DS25 will audition on Feb 6. What instrument is your son? IU has very excellent percussion instructors.

Son has 2 very viable options with nice merit at Belmont University and UNT. Im not sure IU will be able to compete financially. We are OOS.

Isn’t the deadline today for petition or was it 11:59 Jan 31st?

Sure, I understand. I mentioned ā€œsafetyā€ in context of her other more selective options.
It’s all wide open right now. IB career path isn’t set in stone too, so she may chose something that offers broader flexibility, resources and career outcomes.

Most / all these schools place well - and one isn’t ā€˜limited’ to a job in that major. You could be in Poli Sci and do marketing.

But if you seek a bullet proof outcome, then Supply Chain at Carey is a winner.

I’m sure costs and environment matter. You have all great names!! No bad choice !!

That’s the hard part of so many acceptances.

Yeah, tell me about this ā€œhard partā€ lol…
But I guess it’s a good problem to be had, or may be not. DDs decision to make, I’m committed to support her with whatever she decides eventually.

I agree, picking what you feel is right for you is more important than a ranking/ā€œbestā€ opinion.

A prestige name may help with the entry-level position, but that becomes less valuable as the opportunities to move up come along.

In the long-run, the school will be just another line on your resume, and the interviewer will be evaluating you on attitude, experience, and what you can do for them.

Most of the academic skills required to do well in business can be taught at any school, imo….

Yes exactly! Fordham’s access, location and placement in nyc is amazing. So much to consider. We live in Boston so our daughter can always intern at home. Lots of good options. I went to Clemson and my parents were not in an urban area. I had four internships including one with GE finance and BoA my junior year with paid housing and ended up in investment banking. Anything can happen!

I think it’s today. But for someone who’s not selected a Kelley major, not sure they can even submit a review request without first changing it.

Same here. We used to live nearby and can answer any questions if you want to dm. But it’s definitely not for everyone.

Phew…

You can never go wrong with accounting, as long as there are businesses, they will need beancounters…

Personally, i never was interested in counting beans, it was where else that background could take me….

All great points. Will share with DD.
I believe parents own experiences shape so much of how they end up guiding their kids.
Thankfully I have self-awareness of not being the right person for her chosen major/career-path. I’m more suited to guide Comp Sci majors, much to the chagrin of DD. Her mom too is of little use being an Architect… lol.

Do you have any insights on GW business school?
Very confused if it’s worth it in comparison to the other we’re discussing here. (assuming CoA isn’t a concern)
DD was excited at the idea of being in the heart of DC, and even though it’s a great school, not sure if the business majors are all that great here.

Here’s the placement report. I set to school of business. But it looks like it unset. You can adjust under the word Employment.

Did she apply to AU too ? Not quite as much in the thick of things.

Better outcomes (on average - there’s always outliers) than others. Nope. More expensive. Yep. But in DC if that’s where you want to be. Yep. Is it solid - I’m sure as is AU.

Don’t forget, many do semesters in DC…mine did. Many schools have programs. Others partner with AU. So that’s another possibility although it might impact course flow.

No, she didn’t apply to AU. Already went overboard with about 12 colleges I think… lol.
Already killing herself with her IB diploma essays and assessments, and these college essays have sucked the last drop of blood, so just barely surviving.
Thank you for sharing this report.

12 - that’s nothing. Mine did 15 and 21. Yep she did well yours !!!

Have fun choosing. If it helps and you get stuck, take one and match vs another.

So two head to head. If one wins, throw the other out. Now you have 11.

Versus all 12 at once which gets a bit of brain overload.

Question - my student just logged into the IU portal to print out info for me and saw a ā€œHutton Admissions Petitionā€ that wasn’t in there originally. Has anyone else received this? They didn’t apply for honors college initially so I’m wondering why this would have appeared.

We saw that too when I logged in late last night hoping against hope for the school to magically change from pre-business to Kelley… lol…
Two easy essays, DD submitted them this morning.
I believe the EA deadline to apply has passed, so now one can petition until March/April (not sure).

My D is DA to a program in CAS, applied for Hutton and hasn’t been notified yet.

The regular application date had passed, but they are opening petition process for admitted students.
