I bought my son an Instapot from Costco with the goal of teaching him how to cook meals in it so he’ll be able to easily fix his own meals when he moves out later this year. (graduation in May!!) I have never used one so when he is home for a weekend, I’ll scour the internet for a simple recipe that we can make together. So far we have made 2 meals and in both cases, the meat was underdone when we followed the recipe. So I see that there is a learning curve.
What I’m looking for is a source for easy recipes. Throw-in-5-ingredients-and-out-pops-dinner kind of recipes. Nothing very gourmet or having too many ingredients or too many steps. I saw that Costco is selling an Instapot cookbook but it was geared to the gourmet cook who is looking to save time in the kitchen. I need a new college grad who wants a quick and easy dinner version!
Thanks all. I did just join Dump and Push Start. That was exactly what I was looking for. Super easy and simple ideas. My son doesn’t mind cooking but if a recipe has too many steps or too many ingredients it isn’t likely that he’ll try it. So, simple is best for now.
I also joined the Dump and Press Start FB group. I’ve already saved at least a half dozen recipes. This week, I’m going to make the chicken lomein. It sounds delicious…and easy peasy!
Check out the website below for some recipes. Rootitoot (childhood nickname) is a Canadian grandmother who has perfected enough recipes for 2 cookbooks. They are pretty much foolproof, some more and some less involved. On this website she also has basic tips for cooking with an instant pot to help you understand how it works, practical tips and times for chicken, veggies, etc. She also has a facebook page which is the friendliest group - they don’t allow any unkindness and the members are very helpful. Very active group so may or may not be to your liking. But I would definitely take a peek at the recipes here. By the way the pot roast is unbelievably delicious. https://rootitoot.com/recipes-and-cooking/
