DD and DS back at school so I can reclaim Tv back from dance moms and zombie shows. The taste of DH runs to community, 30 rock, and copper. Mine runs to D. Abbey, enlightened. We both liked newsroom. Any suggestions for new horizons in tv watching?

New episodes aren’t being made anymore, but Arrested Development was one of the best shows on TV in the last 10 years. Modern Family is also pretty great.

I’ve also found every episode of Frontline I’ve watched off of Netflix has been fantastic.

We really like Person of Interest. It’s intelligent, keeps you guessing and the actors play well off each other. We also rediscovered the Original CSI now that Ted Danson has joined. He brings a smart sense of humor to the show and gives it the direction it needed once William Peterson left. It’s like a whole different show. I also like Body of Proof. I like a female lead who isn’t perfect and doesn’t think the men she works with are all stupid. Like the fact it actually shows the home life of a main character.

I’m rewatching The Closer. Finishing up season five & enjoying seeing Kyra Sedgwicks real life daughter ( with husband Kevin Bacon) play her niece.

I like 30rock & D.Abbey. You might try Foyles War, or Sherlock, both H & I loved that.

We watch Person of Interest and we’re huge The Closer fans.

I like Blue Bloods and enjoy White Collar. We also like Revenge.

Right now I’m totally hooked on Doctor Who. Daughter made me start with the 2005 Season 1. I have to admit I was skeptical at first. Season 2 with David Tennant (!!!) - great! For you Sherlock fans out there (me!) seasons 5-6 and now 7 are written by Stephen Moffat:

Love Suits (Harvey sigh). D. Abbey, Sherlock, Burn Notice, liked jericho on netflix.

Kat
MOWC I watched the 1st 2 seasons(netflix) of Mad Men and wanted TERRIBLE things to happen to ALL of them. I just couldn’t get over how much all the characters made me dislike them so intensely!

Breaking Bad - first few seasons on Netflix - AMC just finished season 5(which was a half season really - 8 episodes) - Final half season next year…

I’m really looking forward to Call the Midwife, a BBC series that begins Sept. 30 on PBS. The first season got rave reviews in Great Britain, and I’ve read the book and loved it. It is about a young woman learning to be a midwife in the East End in the 50s.

We are watching *West Wing *all the way through. Son got the complete series for Christmas last year and we are now halfway through the last season. I’ll be sad when President Bartlett leaves office.

H feels the same way. I’ve given up, in part because H hates it and in part because every disc of Mad Men that we receive from Netflix is incredibly glitchy.

Another shout out for Suits! Our entire family loves it and we’re a hard bunch to please collectively. We also like White Collar and Castle. We loved West Wing too.

You might like PBS’ ”Masterpiece Mystery: Walander III” airing this Sunday. It stars Kenneth Branagh and I heard good buzz about the show.

My H likes “Person of Interest” while I like “Revenge” and “Once Upon A Time”. We both like “Game of Thrones.” I used to like “30 Rock” but last season was ho-hum…I found “2 Broke Girls” and “New Girl” funnier.

Since you mentioned you don’t like zombie shows, I hesitate to recommend a horror TV show. But I cannot not recommend “American Horror Story” since I was a huge fan of its first season. I have high hopes for Season 2 since Jessica Lange will be returning to the show.

I also like “American Greed” and its spin-off “The Fugitives.”

The previews of ABC’s “Last Resort” and “666 Park Avenue” are compelling enough to reel us in for the pilot episodes.
