international harv interview

one question - what’s it like?

it can be fun if you allow it to be. most interviews i attended are more like coffee talks.

hahah thats cool but like what exactly do u mean?
what sort athings did u talk about etc

Two questions:

 1. Not everyone’s guaranteed an interview, right?
 2. When would the interview take place for RA (Feb? March?) ?

But I guess you guys are talking about a different interview than what I’m thinking about (Since I live in Canada).

well we talked about things i did, and then i was basically telling stories that came to my mind. sometimes the interviewers shared some of their own stories too. but essentially the question you want to answer is, “why you instead of 20k others?”

i seee… hehehe

thats cool! if you don’t mind me asking where there any specific questions that were like “hmmmm shoulda thought about this before”

and what exactly did u convey that made the interviewer think u were better than k’s of other students?

well i would say it’s my articulative manner and my unique situation (i’m single-visioned and no one can tell). but it’s all pretty speculative. :)

one interviewer (i forgot, that was like a year ago) asked whether i like strawberry jams. he says i remind him of his kid and his kid loves strawberry jams. so you can’t really tell what kind of questions you will get.

important point is: don’t antagonize anyone or any institutions. that’ll make you look immature. always argue objectively.

arguing objectively… isn’t that almost impossible? lol
where can u argue objectively? can u even argue anything with objectivity? lol like really.

Yes. Its a very big misconception that you can’t argue objectively. You can.

Well to answer the OPs question, I’d say that the interview’s possibly the most approachable part of the entire application process.

It’s essentially a conversation between you and the interviewer, you’re seeking as much information as possible about the college, while the interviewer’s seeing the level of your compatibility with the college; assessing how much of a “match” you are.

Essentially, like banedon said you’ve to try to convey a reason that they accept you instead of anyone else. It is quite enjoyable actually, depending upon how articulate or outgoing you are.
