International SAT October 2012: Y U NO discuss?

e for the pharmaceutical question was defo right. @tpsyflek, do you remember a question about isabel allende in the error IDS? also, one question about the victorian age, also in the error IDS? those two 2 of the hardest ones

Imho, no. But the opnions about that one are very diversified.

We had the passage to "“Actually, you are. You’re very good.” That was the end of it. We had to infer how she would react and I couldn’t infer pleasure from the given part of the passage.

Was paranoia.

Blues passage: different means different ends was the answer

Don’t remember

Again, opinions differ on that one.

was D. The “at” was superfluous.

Don’t remember

yes, spectacle.

I disagree with your blues answer. The answer was about how they had “contrasting styles,” there was no negative connotation, you’re reading too much.

Also, I still believe the bat answer was to “support the previous claim that male bats send out signals” because the author was clearly trying to reiterate the fact “this isn’t some vague metaphor” because he was trying to say that female bats may “REALLY” perceive male bats as say bright red. So while I guess in some ways he was drawing the comparison that female bats do perceive them in colours similar to humans, the point of the “I don’t mean this as just some vague metaphor” is to reiterate that male bats actually do send out signals.

@coldflame
what answer choice are you referring to?

what was the other choices other than “a previous urge to create something”?

Duffman, for the blues, you mean the answer with like “contrasting styles” or something right?

@Miasanmia, I’m 100% sure about my answer.
@tpsyfley, yes I had that answer as well, for the question about thread. (followed by the “mistakes were easier to remedy” answer)
@Coldflame, I’m pretty sure it’s the similarities thing
@athyuttamre

I think you’re wrong about the first 2

  1. should be contrast
  2. should be suspicion and disbelief.
    don’t remember your 3.
  3. they weren’t both negative, it was different approaches, different results.
  4. you’re right.
  5. right.
  6. can’t remember the other answers
  7. had the same, not sure though.
  8. had that too.
  9. same

Okay, so ‘paranoia’ was the right answer. But wasn’t that in the experimental section? Because I’m sure my friend did not have that question.

Reading on in the passage, the painter Yuliang was elated. We were supposed to infer the correct response from the way the author built up the passage. ‘Suprise and Pleasure’ beyond doubt.

Were “easy to remedy” and “a previous urge to create” on the same question or were they choices from two different questions?

ColdFlame, the question I mean was about the two bothers who played the piano. The one was skillful and played good and the other just hammered on the keys and sounded bad. Sth like that. different approaches, different results… Again, you think you’re right, I think I’m right. We’ll see in a few days. :P

I remember in the blues question, there was some answer about like contrasting styles or something

I think we’re talking about the same answer, there was only one answer choice I’m sure which was about like “contrasting” or “differing” styles right? Or were there two such answers? I just remember putting an answer which was about how their styles were different.

No athyuttamre, the whole passage she thinks she’s bad, even when he’s reading it. so she wouldn’t believe it and would be suspicious.

tpsyflek, different questions.

I don’t remember having the paranoia question.

@duffman

the passage does not explicitly say the second brother sounded bad. mechanical veangance and pained attempt at mastery show how they expressed their emotions for the piano.

She think she’s bad and that is why she’s surprised. There is nothing to suggest suspicion, but she’d be happy her art is appreciated because she’s been hiding it.

Can anyone confirm for the brother’s blues question, there was only 1 answer choice that dealed with “contrasting” or “differing” styles?

^I paraphrased badly, of course. It was implied that one of them was very painstaking, skilled and did everything he could, and the other took the whole thing rather lightheartedly.

@ dufftman

was the word painstaking used? or was it pained?

Can anyone confirm for the brother’s blues question, there was only 1 answer choice that dealed with “contrasting” or “differing” styles?

@miasanmia
therefore, two brothers take different approaches to express themselves through the piano
