International SAT October 2012: Y U NO discuss?

Does anybody remember the last two answers on the ‘bats’ section? I mistakenly thought the section was finished only to discover to my horror that it was not when I began on the next section. I think I left the first of the two blank but pencilled in ‘b’ on the last question.

The last writing question: what would be the best sentence to add as a conclusion to the passage? Was it the one that he doesn’t feel homesick because of this board games club?
Another writing answer was theat a sentence should be deleted?

I chose delete from passage. And I also chose he doesn’t feel homesick anymore.

Adding more, in Chinese technique, why did she keep it secret? (I think I got that one wrong)

And why did she draw caligraphy until morning?

She kept her paiting secret, because she didn’t want her teacher to think that she neglected caligraphy.
I don’t remember the second one. Any answer choices/better wording?

^yea i rmb putting a “while” there somewhere

on reading passage abt the blues music

answer was either “taken aback by, but sympathetic to, students responses” or “appreciated the boy’s taste in music and encouraged him”?

we have to wait for 19 days to know the score… which is a sheer torture
hang in there guys… its just a test

Trafic and film one was A, no error.
“appreciated the boy’s taste in music and encouraged him”?
Wasn’t the exact wording, but I think it was sth in that spirit. She made him to play his stuff in the first place.

^ Didn’t his mother want him to play piano and not guitar? (and that was the answer to: why didn’t he play guitar/why did he play piano). I can’t recall another teacher.

about the question his mother in the blues passage, I chose the answer as the instrument that his mother did not want him play
as for the teacher’s attitude towards the play, I chose the supportive and encouraged him to play blablabla

For that one, I chose they were competetive? Im not sure though, there was also (different approaches) option.

I chose the two different approaches, as the competitive one, clearly he disliked it

I think my answer was sth with different approaches and different results

What did you get for the last question of the math section with 16 questions? The one with t and t/2?

Options were 18 24 36 etc…

the last question in the math section is t=36
amateurism, I chose the explain a point about amateurism something like that

and the fairness means everyone gets paid equally

Amateurism one was already discussed and several people had the answer.
the t t/2 was 36, but I ran out of time just before I could circle it. :frowning:
The fairness one sounds familiar. Any answer choices/wording?

There was one question with answer ambition or sth like that. Sth about Amrican attitude.

i dont rmb that but someone before chose the … but ludicrous

I chose the ‘insightful and something…’. But probably is wrong. :/

for “fairness” i got that they should all be judged under the same rules or smth like that
coz question was from the sentence where the athelete said people should be paid according to how much they work (sweat) and are creative - so i thought if everyone is paid equally then thats going agaisnt it…

Hey guys! Let’s try to recall all passages and then try to remember questions. And then make another thread with full of sections and questions (i’ll do it I guess). I think it would be helpful for everyone, instead of writing one thing at a time.

I had 4 CRs and as I figured out the one with invetions was experimental. The other 3 Passages were: Echolocation of bats, Chinese Painter and double passage about **Should the college athletes be paid or not/b.

Before writing a question and an answer, please write one of those 3 to indicate the section. Might be a stupid thing, but would be helpful for easier navigation.

** Chinese girl **

 • What kind of relationship was between the girl and her husband (one of the choices was - Teacher and student)
 • Why she kept her drawings secret
 • Which literal thing she used (the answers were personification, metaphor, analogy)
 • How did the girl feel after compliments of her husband

** Echolocation of bats **

 • Question about why the author did use flamingo thing
 • Which argument would puzzle scientists even more? (a question choice was about birds migrating with the help of magnetic something)
 • A question which answer was ‘humans can easily see’ (not sure about this one)

** Athletes **

 • What would both authors agree on?
 • A question with the answer that author was making a point about amateurism
 • What did that guy mean with saying ‘show’ (What about spectators? We also need to pay them, because they’re also a part of the show)
 • What was the tone of that guy? (Why we just do not write pay cheques of $10 to everyone who passes by?)
 • The main idea of the last passage (the answer choices were something like - shifting the discussion, reiterate a previously stated argument)
