International Student Personal Statement

I know its a bit late, but when i applied to UCB, UCLA, UCSD the instructions on how to write your personal statement were brief on the International EAP website.

This is what it says:
Step 7. Write a Personal Statement

You must submit an essay (typewritten, double-spaced, approximately 500 words) to state anything you want to be known about yourself or your academic record that has not been described elsewhere in your application. For example, personal attributes, gaps in your education, or academic performance. Use specific examples to support the points you want to make. Do not focus on a specific UC campus, as you could be placed at any host UC. If you wish to comment on a specific UC campus, write a short, separate note.

Your Personal Statement is one of many pieces of information considered in review of your application. A placement decision, however, would not be based on your Personal Statement alone. Include one photocopy with your application.

(taken from Information on Reciprocal Exchanges)

I followed those instructions, but have noticed after that the Personal Statement guidelines seem to be different for those applying within the US.

Is this right? Or have i been misinformed and sent in a wrongly written personal statement!

Any help would be appreciated!

Cheers

James

Weird… It looks like both a personal statement and an additional info box in one essay. Do you have anything in particular that you need to explain? Otherwise I would just write an essay like the typical personal statement for US applicants.

Edit: just noticed you have already submitted your app. You should be fine if you just followed the instructions.

Not that weird. I applied to Purdue, and they gave me something similar to fill in, although mine was strictly optional. I talked personal attributes.
