Hi everyone,
As I explained in my last post my daughter Mariam is going to join for Mechanical Engineering course at the University of Wollongong in Dubai.
I was reading about the student visa and related factors on this page https://www.uowdubai.ac.ae/international-students/student-visa/student-visa-costs and I found that the health insurance is somehow related to this. I am not at all aware of this.
Can anyone explain me?
Thanks in advance.
The university website repeatedly states that student visa holders are required to have health insurance. Students can either buy their own policy or buy the university’s group policy. The cost of the group insurance is listed in the table of visa fees, with an asterix noting that that particular charge can be waived with proof of other coverage.
What are you confused about?
So we should get the University’s group policy if our private insurance has no UAE coverage, right?
We have a student in a different university in a different foreign country. However, in my experience universities generally do offer health insurance for foreign students. Also, IMHO it is a very good idea to get the insurance. Stuff can go wrong. Also, at least in the cases that I have looked at the health insurance through the university has been a relatively good deal.
I see this as just part of the cost of going to university, sort of like books and a cell phone.
