[]Advice? Commiserations? Feel like bragging?:[/ul] To all the future applications who lurk these pages, please make sure that you really want to BE at MIT. A few months after submitting my MIT apps, I realized I had little to no mention for my love of science/technology in any of my essays. That is when I realized perhaps MIT wasn’t that amazing of a fit for me. I do like science/technology, but it is not something I’d like to pursue. I am a humanities student who likes science, not a science student who likes humanities. Also, PLEASE find your voice in your essays. We’ll see if my stats/essays are good enough for the other schools in 2 weeks.

Hey guys, for those who got rejected from MIT but still have other schools to hear from, this might cheer you up a little bit
[In an (Ivy) League of His Own - allDAY - msnbc.com](http://allday.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/06/18/1152344.aspx)

@KJ2222: your stats are good…
I’m seeing that there are a lot of international applicants that are qualified and have strong EC’s but they didn’t get in… What kind of people… does MIT want?

Maybe if you aren’t an IMO finalist or IPHO…you don’t have chances.

Rejected

[li]Essays: All great (very personal and spent a lot of time with it)
[/li]

[/ul]Others:[ul]
[]Country: Thailand
[]High School Type: Private but very small
[]Ethnicity: Thai
[]Gender: Male
[li]Hooks: Being Thai and worldly. Travels a lot. Making the best out of what is given at such a small school. Ambitious and hardworking (clearly seen in ECs and essays). Outstanding recommendation letters.
[/li]

[li]General Comments:[/ul] [/li]Already expected a rejection. Even though I got rejected, I’m still a huge fan of MIT and will probably apply there as a graduate student. I totally understand the competitiveness of this pool and do not question their decision whatsoever.

@edoardo: thanks but face value stats aren’t good enough is what I’ve realised. In retrospect I think my essays didn’t quite display passion. Besides my intended major was economics and in my opinion MIT favours applicants with a passion for science, which I obviously could not show.

MIT sucks, Many International applicants are more qulified than USA students, but they are rejected.
