interview tomorrow... any tips?

So I've registered to shadow someone tomorrow, found an overnight host, and now the only thing I'm somewhat concerned about is the interview tomorrow afternoon. Does anyone have any tips about the W&M interview process? Any examples of questions asked?

I hope you have a great day!! My son interviewed this summer and was a bit nervous going in, but it turned out to be a very good experience. From what I understand the questions can really vary...just be prepared to talk about yourself, engage and think on your feet, and have some questions of your own.

Here is a copy/paste from W&M's Admit It! Blog that talks more about the interview and gives some suggestions, guidelines, and sample questions.

W&M Blogs The Inside Scoop on Interviewing

Good luck!

I'll give a brief overview of what to expect.

From my interview, I remember questions on three subjects: academics, extracurricular activities, and sort of random questions. It really depends on who interviews you, because the questions are probably up to the interviewer. Your focus should be on showing your personality, and your passion for academics and extracurricular activities. Don't treat it as a job interview; it's more of an audition to show that you could fit into the community. It's been a while, but sample questions:

-What subject are you most passionate about? Why?
-What's your favorite class?
-Favorite teacher?
-Least favorite subject?
-Greatest academic challenge?
-If you had the money to do any research project, what would it be, and why?
-What's your favorite activity?
-Greatest accomplishment?
-What super power would you like to have?
-Theme song of your life?

It's been a while, but I remember those. Ultimately, worry more about testing, GPA/rank, extracurriculars, etc. Relax and don't be a mongoloid, and you'll be fine.

Thanks, guys! :)

Anyone know what to wear? I saw somewhere on the website that you can dress casually to the interview if you are touring around earlier, which I am. My interview starts 10 minutes after I finish shadowing a student, and I would probably look ridiculous if I am shadowing someone and wearing business attire.

Is a pair of nice jeans and an argyle sweater ok to wear?

Yes, that's fine.

How was your visit, B2D? Would love to hear your experiences of Fall Focus Day, shadowing, interview, overnight, etc....

Absolutely great. Loved everything about it. Maybe later tonight when I finish my homework, etc I'll make a thread all about the experience.

So glad to hear you had such a positive experience. I know how busy you seniors are so just whenever you have a few minutes, it would be fun to hear more - no rush or pressure. BTW, I am an alum and have a son who applied ED. :-)
