  • Safety *(certain admission and affordability)*UNC

hmmm - UNC isn’t safe.

Good luck.

I cannot assess your chances for an offer of admission to the colleges & universities that you listed, but I would encourage you to consider applying to a few all women’s schools such as Bryn Mawr, Smith College, and Mount Holyoke. Barnard is another that might be of interest to you.

You listed UNC as a safety. UNC is not a safety for applicants who are not residents of the state of North Carolina.

Or for any international student looking for financial aid.

@hhhharlan
So you’re saying, although a struggle, your family could potentially pay over $90,000 per year? (Over $360,000 total)

I just want to make sure you’re aware what college costs in America, and that you’ll need to show proof of finances to get your student visa.

What does this mean? How much can your family contribute to your college costs annually without struggling?

These are all high reach schools for an international student.

UNC is NOT a safety school…it’s a reach like all the other colleges on your list.

You will need to complete a certificate of finances that documents that you have four full years of college costs at the ready…to get a visa to study here. At some of your colleges, that could mean that your family will have to show they they have $350,000 or more available. This cannot include future income, loans that haven’t been approved, money you hope to borrow from someone else, etc. It has to be ready available money. It can include financial aid awarded by a college.

If you would like to broaden your search, this site offers some suggestions of colleges with higher acceptance rates than those you have listed: The Best Small Colleges For A Sociology And Anthropology Degree - Best Value Schools.

Thx a lot for your reply! I will reconsider my safety.

My family can afford a full cost. But i personally would not like to take their financial support.

Thx a lot for your tips! I didn’t think of the visa stuff before. I will discuss it with my family later.

You are unlikely to get into any of the schools you listed. Take a look at schools that accept over 50% of applicants. Look at state public schools, not the very selective ones. You wont get fin aid, so look at public schools, a little cheaper.

I’m thinking you would need to be a tippy top student in your school for the schools you have listed.

Are you applying anywhere that isn’t a reach school? Your current list is ALL reach schools.

Are you applying in your home country? You should be.
