"Invited"

I only heard of people being invited by PA. Do all HEADS send out such invitations?

What kind of advantages those “invited” have? in a different pool?

invited to what?

i know a girl who did extremely well on her psats and she got invited, but the truth is, the majority of the applicants apply. just because you’re invited doesn’t really have a huge perk. all that’s available to them is a small bit of information about you, it takes a whole application to truly find out if you’re a/e material.

walden, invited to apply for the school

hotchkissjin, do you know it (no huge perk) for a fact or you think? because I heard otherwise. I know a math competition winner was invited year after year with some promising languages.

whend she take the psats hotchkissjin?

FayMom, may I ask where you live? How far from Andover?
(Approximately… Cardinal direction and state name would be great).

yeaa, do people that get contacted or invited live close by?

she was invited for junior year and she took the psats during freshman year and scored a 99. she wasn’t accepted to andover (the school she was invited to) but she did get accepted at exeter (the school she was not invited to but just applied to).
and faymom, it’s just a hunch because of ^

how far away did she live though?

colorado, so i think it could be both close by and far away

My S was invited by Exeter, but I don’t think it gave him any advantage. It’s just part of the school’s campaign strategy - they’d go out to different pools (PSAT takers, scholarship applicants, etc.) and invite some strong performers to apply. Once your application is in, it’ll be in the same pool as others and evaluated based on the whole pacage.

yea, i think so too
