I love the new iOS. I upgraded my phone to the 5s from the 4s. No complaints here. I like the new features and don’t find it difficult to read. I have enlarged the font to make it easier but I had done that on the last several op systems.

No problems on my iPad either.

I updated my iPhone 4 a few days ago.

One of the things I found to be annoying was not having the “Reader” feature on Safari. BUT…I found it! For sites that have it, it’s the horizontal bars to the left of the URL. It certainly makes reading web pages so much easier.

One thing that I think is new (because I never noticed it before), and that I like, is a feature with the timer. When the timer is set, you can see how much time is left, without having to unlock the phone (it’s on the lock screen under the current time). I use the timer a lot so that’s handy for me. One strange thing, though, is that when it’s showing the timer, the date isn’t showing.

Well, I never updated to IO6! Still on 5. (Mainly because of the maps app – I use maps for walking directions all the time, and that wasn’t available on Apple maps app. And I just got lazy.)

The main problem is that some apps are now designed only for the newer operating systems, so I can’t open them or update them or even download them until I update the phone.

I’m going to be getting the new iPhone 5s eventually, once I can just walk in and buy it without waiting on lines, so I haven’t decided whether to update my old phone or just wait until I get the new one. Husband updated to 7 and doesn’t like it.

(I’m usually not such a Luddite – not sure why I reacted so badly to io6.)

I have been having nothing but issues since the update! Mainly because I like to have USB cords everywhere: house PC, car, work PC, and one I keep in my suitcase for travel. When I got my iPhone 5 I purchased a few new cords off of Ebay. I have done it before with no issues and had none prior to the iOS update. Now my phone keeps telling me I am using a non-Apple accessory and my phone may not work with it. I have repeated issues syncing, as well as even getting my PC to recognize my phone. Ugh. So annoying.

I hate the the colors on the text feature now as well.

fireand rain, You can download the goole map apps free should you upgrade to iOS6. I had to update my OS to iOS6 this summer to use iMessage my D who was in Europe.

Would iOS7 help with the phone reception? I am happy with my phone as is except the reception is so poor. If getting a new iphone5s or updating the OS would help, I’d switch.

Haven’t read the entire thread but I hate what they did with the calendar. Everything else is okay but the calendar is near useless to me now without the agenda-style view. I’m not upgrading on my ipad.

OP here. Still haven’t downloaded the upgrade but am leaning towards updating my phone but not my iPad.

If your phone is 3G, then a 4G phone should help with reception because 4G towers can process many more connections, which reduces dropped calls, and some other significant improvements.

^Thank you, Lergnom. I have a 3G. Now I have an excuse to spruge on a new phone :)

Snowdog, the agenda view is still there. Just click on the magnifying glass at the top of calendar.

Who is looking forward to the larger iPad Mini that should come out this month? Oh yes, that larger Mini is none other than the new iPad, which will be lighter, narrower, and skinnier than the latest version. It should come with a color scheme that emulates the 5S --meaning a gold and white version.

Since my original iPad (April 2010) is well past its useful life, it will be worth putting that undersized and overhyped toy finally to rest. All in all, the original 800 dollars divided by the months the iPad still worked adequately was not such a bad proposal. Wasting 50 dollars a month is a fair price, especially when comparing to the cost of say … Comcast Cable. :)

I use a maxboost battery case & I now get a message that it may not work, whereas I didnt before.
Whenever I bought anything ( like batteries) off ebay for previous ( non apple) phones however, I wouldnt get a message- they just wouldnt work!
So Id rather go with the message.
;)

Re: iPhone 5 and reception. We have 3 iPhones, all in very similar Speck cases, and when they all are laid out on the dining table, guess which one has the lowest number bars? If you said the 5, you got that one right! Mr B’s personal 4 and work 4s outperform mine :(

A techie colleague showed me how the new iOS looks like and commented that he really liked how it now incorporated a few of the same features that his Windows phone had. LOL.

I also second the Google maps app - it turns your phone into a navigation system. The maps talk, which is very cool.

Yes I know that Iron Maiden, but it’s an extra step that makes it inconvenient, and the ability to view the entire month at the same time is gone. If a calendar is not critical to you it wouldn’t matter, but it is to me and this frankly is inferior to what they had.

Finally took the plunge yesterday and had my D update my phone. So far, I like it. Haven’t encountered any issues besides the need to wear my reading glasses most time I use it which was also true before! I do have it in the largest text setting. I like the ore modern streamlined look.

Will see how day 2 fairs.

Behind the curve and just updated. For those who have been using for awhile what features do you love?

Swiping back and forth between pages.

Can’t think of any other features at the moment…
